Contact App Store support. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store Window. They're the only ones who can sort out account issues.

I had the same exact problem. It was making me insane. And I figured out a solution.

I went to Finder and clicked on Applications and searched for iPhoto. Then I deleted iPhoto and the four png files that had iPhoto in their name. I restarted the computer and then went back to the App Store.

In the App Store, it no longer listed iPhoto as an application waiting to update (as it had before), so I searched for iPhoto and clicked on it (it said "free app"). It installed perfectly.

If you delete iPhoto and reinstall will you lose all photos?

No, your photos are not stored in the iPhoto application, they are stored in your iPhoto library. Deleting the application and reinstalling will not delete your photos. But make a backup copy of the iPhoto Library in your Pictures folder anyway. Copy it to an external drive before reinstalling, just in case.

Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1

If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash.

Install the App from the App Store.

Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?

iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

Thanks! worked for me. Only thing is i didn't have to uninstall the old iPhoto at all. Just went in straight on the purchases list from the app store and it had there the iPhoto which says' INSTALL' and just went for it. After that, i launch it straight from the application folder to launch the new iPhoto. Once opened it will prompt you that the library needs upgrade for you to be able to use it. After all thatt, everything should work fine.
