I downloaded Yosemite and that's it. No request to install. AppStore shows Yosemite downloaded.

I downloaded Yosemite. AppStore shows it is downloaded. I never received a request to do the install. I can't find an installer. There is no sign whatsoever that is on my computer. However, I can not re-download it as it is already downloaded.

The installer is in Finder, Applications as OS X Yosemite Installer…it is 5.16 GB. Did it install on its own? If not, click the installer and it will open and begin.

Stupidest install I've ever seen Apple. And I started in 1986 with OS 5.

For twenty+ years a downloaded instal has automatically launched. Not here. Not even an automatic disk image.

But worse, when you realize you've *downloaded* something, shouldn't it be in the Downloads folder?

But then, when someone tells you it's in the Applications folder, wouldn't you look under "Y" for Yosemite? Or, as one poster here said, OS X Yosemite. I would have never thought to look for "I".

This is the sort of attention to details that Jobs would never have approved.

I Couldn't agree more...literally the dumbest install procedure of any operating system I have ever seen. once the download has completed there are no prompts to tell you the install has downloaded to your applications folder ....do I need a crystal ball to find this out!? Would it kill Apple to put in a pop-up window to instruct you on the next step to take after the update has downloaded? No that would be to sensible...instead I'll just spend ages trying to work out what the **** is going on, download the whole update twice and then resort to Google to find out what the **** Apple is up to with this ludicrous update. People at Apple - hear this....Steve Jobs is literally turning in his grave at what you're doing to his legacy. Totally embarrassing, just the latest nail out of many in Apple's coffin.

I downloaded Yosemite and that's it. No request to install. AppStore shows Yosemite downloaded.
