blurry font on yosemite

so i've upgraded to yosemite.

overall i like it, simplified and more like iOS

however the first thing that hit me is how blurry all the text is everywhere!

it's pretty awful, i'm sure it wasn't that bad with mavericks

the menu bar at the top of the screen is worse of all, i really don't understand what is going on here.it's bad and i hope it will be addressed in an update

User uploaded file

i think you can see from this screen shot how the web text is fairly clear whilst the menu bar is blurry

I understand your frustration. I do. And the following is not meant as rude...

If anyone finds a bug... report it to Apple in a clear cut repro case.

The more clear and concise the report the better the chances of Apple being able to repro in-house.

And the faster they can repro, the faster a bug fix will occur.

If they need further information, they will get back to you.

You can report @

Apple Feedback

and

I can understand that venting is a necessity. And we all do it when we get frustrated.

But the ONLY thing that will make sure that a bug is squashed and our lives get better is to report bugs after we are certain that they qualify as bugs ;-)

Unfortunately I think the reputation of Apple is going down the hill every day. How can a company launch an OS with these so basic errors and after so many time why didnt solve them? Unexplainable. And although it is a very simple error, it makes a complete imac unusable due to the headtaches suffered after som hours working on it. And I need it to work.

I have an iPad retina that for more than a year has problems with constant safari crashes and what happens after so expected Ios8? Still crashes but now, Safari doesn't close, only shows a white window derailing that there was a problem and the web page is going to load again. My God! After more than a year and the super ios8 there is still the same problem but covered with an stupid message?

bye bye Apple.

Guys

I am done. I spent the last two weeks trying to make my brand new retIna imac look decent for text and perform like my iMac I have been using for the last year.

I have spent hours with apple engineers and hours in the store and the bottom line is the retIna imac screen although the reviewere think its the greatest thing ever is not great for text heavy users. It's blurry yet crisp well how can that be ? It is .. The whiyes are off and crisp razor sharp text when small doesn't help at normal viewing distances.

I Am returning it today and saying goodbye to imac for a while.

Ive decided to buy a Mac pro and a Thunderbolt Display which costs a whole lot more and of course isn't retina but allows me to change things as things progress. If I want to play with a 4k monitor I can or 3 of them if I want. A little more desk clutter but at the end of the day the sealed architecture of the iMac and inability to change or remove the drive is not good for me. I want to know I can change things as needed. I've loved my iMacs for years but the retina for me is a disaster.

Funny I have the retina new Mac Pro 13 and the screen is awesome. I guess what we learned here is retina means nothing ..

By the way, the retina iMacs also have a horrible screen lag when resizing and moving screens around to multiple monitors. I never had this with prior iMacs. I think the gpu is so busy keeping up with scaled pixels it can't do normal functions..

Theatermax, did you get the M290X (default) or M295X (upgraded) GPU? A lot of forum posters have been saying they experience no lag, so results may vary.

I think theres a combination of Yosemite bug and you being an early-adopter of an Apple product, that has resulted in your negative experience, which I think is completely valid. It's frustrating.

Apple seeded 10.10.1 yesterday.

Let's hope big time that Apple fixes the blurry font issue.

I thought further if Apple staff review discussion forums and have come to the conclusion that they must. It's mandatory good business practice to know what your customers are saying about your products.

A brilliant user named Mr. Schreiberstein at MacRumors Forum has created a script to change the system wide font to Lucinda Grande. Here is the link:

Also, if anyone wants to fix their dock after increasing contrast which results in a ghastly looking dock, OS X Daily has a fix for that:
