Hey 🙂
Does anybody know, if the iPod Classic (120 GB, Model A128, 2008) is compatible with iTunes 12.0.1?
Thanks a lot.

You can easily revert to 10.10.1 by re-downloading Yosemite from
the App Store to an external hard drive or usb and reinstalling. Takes about 30 minutes. be sure to turn off automatic updates in the App Store panel of system preferences, however, or you may end up auto updating to 2 again unwittingly.
I don't like to keep all of my music on my iPhone 5, but keep my 160g ipod in my car so all my music is within reach there... except every sync with itunes on the computer duplicates songs on the ipod. Is there any fix in sight for this? I hate having to start all over trying to figure this out again with each new sync, as I sometimes purchase music from my phone and would love to just be able to add those songs to the ipod by syncing...
I can confirm that , with iTunes 12, downgrading Yosemite from the 10.10.2 beta to the public 10.10.1 fixes the issue and now my 160Gb classic ipod is recognized by itunes and syncs alright. No need to downgrade itunes.
Hi all, the problem is with those of us that took part in the Beta version.
close the App Store
go to preferences and select App Store and deselect receiving Beta updates
then reinstall OS X Yosemite and you should get version 10.10
if you do not deselect or opt out you will then update to 10.10.2 so you must do this.
you will then upgrade to 10.10.1
and hey presto iPod is recognised again in iTunes
Well after much searching on this and thinking my final gen 160GB classic had finally started to flake out, I found this string. I would plug in the iPod, it would connect for a half second, and then "OK to disconnect" without me ever having MacBook Pro/OSX Yosemite computer access. iPod was fine other than that.
Kangolman is correct, at least for me. I posted a Feedback Asst note to Apple, and shut off the beta program as described above. I then re-downloaded 10.10 from the app store, installed, am now running 10.10.1 and my classic is sync-ing away as I type.
Thanks!
Hi DCDude42, i am pleased to have helped, it took me a while to get there but i also gave feedback to apple as I had a case open. Could I ask that you mark my post as solved, that way others with the same problem can easily find it, thanks
Hi, only the original poster, in this case chrishman, gets to mark posts as solved or helpful. If you check the terms of use (4.2.2) you should see that we're asked not to prompt other users to award points. 🙂

Hi Guys!
It's with an IMMENSE SATISFACTION in my heart that I come here to announce that the just released 10.10.2 Beta update (Jan. 8) FIXES THE PROBLEM!!!!!
U-hu!!
I'm just adding musics to my Classic 120GB!!! Couldn't be happier - I mean, unless I won the lottery...
As usual, the notes do not mention the fix. But trust the force you must, hehehe.
Thanks, Apple!! Just keep your eyes open to things like this in the future. Anyway, we're here to help you on this. Split happens.
Case closed.
My best to you all!!
you know.... this problem ain't ****** fixed
I have an Ipod classic 120gb, windows 7 operating system, Itunes 12 literally bluescreened my gaming rig when I plugged my ipod into it at the begining of the month, I have tried every solution the internet has, and a few of my own and nothing fixes this.
The update earlier in Jan. only stopped Itunes from crashing my computer along with it, it still crashes instantly whenever I plug my Ipod in. So I would offer this warning - If you have an Ipod classic, Do not ****** update to 12, EVER, there is no fix currently and all the support staff will try and tell you that your Ipod's hard drive is giving out, these are lies.
Have you at least checked the stats on your device as shown in Corrupt iPod classic? That said a BSOD is likely to be a problem with some driver that is invoked when the iPod is connected. Does it still occur if you completely remove all Apple related software as shown in Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. With no Apple software on board the iPod should appear as an external drive, but you can also put it into disk mode if need to force that behaviour.

when I said every solution on the internet and a few of my own I really meant it lol, I even went as far as reformatting my ipod multiple times, I've reinstalled Itunes with complete system wipes of everything apple related a total of 7 times now, and yes, the ipod works as an external hard drive when theres nothing apple on here.
The main reason I know there's nothing wrong with my ipod - I never updated my laptop, and it works fine
More to the point I've found literally hundreds of other people with these same problems posting on forums all across the internet
I know you say you've tried everything you could find/think of, but since I don't know what that list includes you will I trust forgive me if I'm too obvious.
What AV package are you running?
Did you try installing iTunes with it disabled?
Are you able to install say iTunes 11.4 and have it work properly?
FWIW, and no comfort to you, I have iTunes 12.1 installed here on Windows 7 64-bit and talking happily to an iPod classic, iPhone, iPad, and iPod nano.
