iPod Classic iTunes 12

Hey 🙂

Does anybody know, if the iPod Classic (120 GB, Model A128, 2008) is compatible with iTunes 12.0.1?

Thanks a lot.

you can pretty much assume I've tried everything you're going to mention lol, I use Iobit AV, have tried everything I've tried with it enabled and disabled, pretty much no effect, fixed a failed install of itunes 10.7

Itunes 11.4 installed perfectly fine, but crashed upon trying to access itunes store, looked around on the internet and found that it was a pathway issue that I was not willing to spend hours trying to correct, seeing as I had a laptop with 11 already on it and working.

good for you? I guess? I mean if you're trying to say that because you have a computer working with this version of Itunes that means there's nothing wrong with itunes, that's a pretty flawed piece of logic.

problems started with the ipod auto-ejecting itself from the computer a couple seconds after being plugged it. Many support people told me this was the ipod's hard drive crapping out, so diagnostics for that, found that nothing was wrong with my ipod. Was suggested to get a powered USB hub, tried that, no change. disk-moded Ipod restore attempt resulted in my computer blue-screening. At this point I reinstalled Itunes, first just Itunes, then all apple software, No change. At this point I brought out my old crappy laptop that still had old itunes on it, this worked perfectly fine, clicked restore and it downloaded the latest software and fixed my ipod. I left this for a while because it was working and I preferred to not damage my computers with anymore crashes. Then itunes got updated, I tried everything above once again, this time my computer did not crash, but just itunes crashed. After reinstalling everything again and trying a couple other things, I got it to not crash when I tried restoring, instead it gave me error codes ranging from 1415-1439. Fast forward through many other failed procedures, I tried reformatting my Ipod among other things, I read a post saying that these problems were fixed in an update - this is a lie, and you shouldn't be spreading this lol

No, I'm simply pointing out that the opposite logic of it doesn't work for you and therefore nobody else should attempt to install it is equally flawed. The worst thing from the point of view of getting it fixed is that it is likely that very few people have the same set of circumstances that cause the current build of iTunes to fail in exactly the same way that it does for you, since the usual fixes do usually work for most people that get problems, and of course most people upgrade without any trouble whatsoever. When there really is an issue that affects every user it usually gets fixed pretty quickly, or like the loss of cover flow is declared the new normal.

Well unless I'm mistaken this thread was originally about an issue with the failure to sync classics on beta versions of OS X. As I understand it subsequent releases have fixed that particular issue, at least for a number of users who have reported it. It would seem however that yours is a different issue, on a different operating system, that is sadly not yet resolved. 😟

I recently updated to iTunes 12 on Windows 7 and using a 160GB iPod Classic, software version 2.0.4. The other night for the first time I plugged it into my computer when the battery was dead, and since then started having issues, culminating with the other night. I disconnected the iPod like normal after it had been working fine all weekend. An error message came up in iTunes saying: "The iPod cannot be synced. A duplicate file name was specified."

I looked down at my iPod and the screen said "No Music". I was like huh? I clicked on artists & sure enough it was saying "No Artists".

I then updated to version 12.0.1, hopelessly wishing that it'd have a fix for the issue. After connecting to my computer again, it gives me the same error message now a couple times and says no music. BUT...the 121GB on there of Audio, at the bottom of iTunes, is still there, however it's now changed to a yellow bar of "Other". The name of my iPod has also been changed (shortened) from what it was. After disconnecting, it gives the same error message again.

Needless to say, this is devastating to me as a music collector & connoisseur, with over 18,000 songs on the thing. Literally years and years of work, with the ultimate goal of having the best iPod in existence (at least to me lol). I am trying to avoid doing a Restore, cuz it's showing the data is still on there...

I'd greatly appreciate any help.
