Bluetooth audio lag

I<3Music, you say some of your bluetooth speakers are working fine with your Macbook. Are you running Yosemite (OSX 10.10) on it? I believe all the people in this thread reporting bluetooth audio problems only started having the problems after updating to Yosemite.

I understand this is a community forum, but after 18 pages, shouldnt Apple care to take a look? at least show us that they noticed this problem! This is so annoying, i can't use my bluetooth headphone.

The stuttering on my BOSE Bluetooth speaker has now reached the point where it is un-listenable.

Are we really at the point where there are 18 pages of people suffering the same tech problem, and we still haven't heard anything from any Apple people?

utterly shoddy. I doubt I will ever upgrade OS straight away, ever again.

This is disgusting.

19 Pages of people with serious problems and not a word from Apple.

We run a small language School, our Teachers use Bluetooth Headsets which now are completely usesless.

We had to buy Cable Headsets for all our Teachers to provide our Service to our Students!

We need a Solution, now!

WAKE UP APPLE!!!! REGRESSION TESTING ON OLDER HARDWARE? QA Groups? Testing processes. Apple, please let me know if you need a QA lead resume or two????????

OR is this really a ploy to make us all buy new hardware?

people who have waited for 2 months for the functionality of their (pricey) computer equipment to work again, should not be told to "stop complaining"

there were many things Apple could have done, like test Yosemite properly before releasing it, or at a minimum acknowledging the problem right away, rather than just leave people twisting in the wind

until it's fixed, I won't stop replying.

I just can't believe this kind of problem come from a company that just spend billion dollars to buy a headphone company. can they at least spend a few mill to fix this problem? This is simply being ignorant from the apple side

Just wanted to jump in since I am new to the party. I have Bose Mini Soundlink and mid-2014 MBP w/Retina. I experience horrible lag since the "upgrade" to Yosemite, random disconnects, when I disconnect my speaker iTunes randomly opens or starts playing if it is open, and Spotify randomly just stops playing music. I use my speaker all the time. I spent alot of money on an Apple device because I expected great QA on their hardware/software - if I wanted to deal with issues like this I would have bought a lenovo and saved my money. At least when Windows machines have issues work arounds crop up after a few weeks. This is ridiculous, can't even use my stuff on which I spent mucho dinero. I hope the 10.10.2 update fixes it. If not I will seriously consider selling the MBP.

Okay, I've done the sudo write and then the read. Still having the delay. This is the read result:

Nope. The thing is, the Bluetooth pane sees it no problem. It connects and the computer sees it fine. Just the Sound pane doesn't see it. The Bluetooth pane even shows that it's an external sound item. However, if I use the option key on the Bluetooth menu item, the Active Code shows as not active.

Either way, these settings haven't helped and now I can't hear anything through my bluetooth headphones. Can't find the file, otherwise I'd delete it and see if that would fix it.

Also, when I had done the bitrate to 50 but none of the other settings, it was still lagging, but the sound pane saw the headphones. Something in the other settings has disabled the headphones from the sound pane.

yeah me too mac book pro 2010 with wireless dre beats and a thompson sound bar both lag. lag gets worst over time. it works best with vlc, and worst with safari espically youtube. im very disappointed after spending so much i cant even listen to a song or watch a youtube video im gutted its the holidays i wanted to zone out and watch some movies i cant even do that im absolutly gutted. I would have expect the great god in the sky apple to fix it as its been about 4 weeks since i upgraded. i dont want to take this junk to cash converts but whats the point in having stuff that dont work i would have brought a windows computer if i wanted that kind of unfunctioning rubbish

I have two bluetooth speakers, both HMDX, but different models. The smaller one delays about 1/2 second, unusable. The larger one delays only about 1/16 of a second and is usable. I suggest that it is the Blutooth devices that are causing the delay and its nothing to do with Windows.

Hey, thanks very much for this fix! It worked for me! Now audio lag and choppiness is gone!

For those who couldn't make this work, remove the "space" in between "moun tainlion" and restart your App Store app to see the download link in the software update tab.

Lags are worst when connected to my Sony DVD Home Theatre System with Bluetooth 3.0 while on YouTube and just for the recorded I keep automatic updates on.

I'm using Yosemite on a Mid 2012 13" MacBook Air

P.S I was watching garfield. Its awkward when you see a close-up of John moving his lips and Garfield still talking.

I'm having the same problem with beats studio wireless, netflix, and a late 2009 iMac running OS X 10.10.1.
