Bluetooth audio lag

Just updated (17th.Oct.2014) to OS X Yosemite. Im having trouble with bluetooth connection. There is an audio lag on my bluetooth headphone which progressively gets worse. Im using Sony DR-BTN 200. Is there a temporary solution until they fix it?

P.S. I found others with similar issues as well. Ive tried re-pairing the connection to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

In a moment of patience I've made some tests to work with the horrible sound, and yesterday I watched a movie without the problem. Try resetting SMC (PRAM, tried before, doesn't give results) and watched the movie with WiFi-off. I don't know which of the two things worked, but the problem disappeared. I'll try a new test with WiFi-on later, maybe is just the SMC reset the thing to do or viceversa.

Had the same problem and constantly tried new things while following this thread. The new update to 10.10.2 didn't do it for me either. So finally I tried the other end and called bose (I have a soundlink III). Tech support told me, that generally with mac they have connection problems after updates (I use an android phone with the speaker as well and it didn't show any problems during the whole time).

Support told me to unpair the bose from the mac (delete it from the bluetooth paring list) and then do the same thing on the bose by keeping the bluetooth button pressed until you hear a sound (clears the pairing list of the device). Right now I am listening via bluetooth without problems. As I am working all day and therefore will probably listen to music all the time as well, I can give you an update later today if it actually worked.

I'm still having the same static popping noise explosions described by Griso21 and Cappellin. The noise is deafeningly loud—it's at max volume, regardless of what level the volume control is set to. Definitely a safety hazard. How frustrating that Apple has swapped one bad issue for another. Hoping for a fix soon, before I go deaf. I have tried unpairing/repairing, etc. and welcome anyone else's suggestions. I'm using Creative headphones.

I have a brand new MacBook Pro with 10.10.2 -- has Bluetooth lagging issues when surfing the web. Seems like wifi interferes with the Bluetooth. Music is unplayable on bluetooth speakers as it skips and stutters too much, unless all the computer is doing is playing music.

I also have a Mac Mini with 10.10.2, and while it doesn't have skipping problems with Bluetooth, it has a disconnection problem where after a while a white buzz noise (very loud) occurs and you have to turn off the bluetooth speakers and repair/reconnect them.

iPhone/iPad doesn't seem to have Bluetooth problems.

Good to see Apple really works hard to repair fixes for it's expensive hardware. i.e. they don't seem to care.

I thought that my woes had finally been resolved with the update, as the lag seems to be (I'm not holding my breath) fixed! Then, low and behold, after simply toggling form one tab to another on Chrome, the most deafening white noise came blasting out of the speaker (Bose mini soundlink) It nearly made me soil myself, which at the age of 40 is not something I appreciate.

Surely Apple can get something fixed with this? It's gone on so long now, they have lost a lot of good will with me.

Yesterday I tried spotify (with WiFi on) for a hour and a half, and the problem of buzzing noise seems disappeared. I don't know what (hopefully) fixed it, maybe last try had success: try to unpair (delete from bluetooth settings) your device, then reset SMC (you find how to on the internet), then on reboot repair your device. For now it worked, I don't know for how long, I will do more tests in next days hoping that is the end of the nightmare.

Well, I wonder if Apple is going to pay for the visits when I have to go see the doctor about my hearing loss. There is no rhyme or reason to it, which is frustrating on its own.

Just now I was listening to an audiobook on iTunes and someone logged into Skype and BAM. White noise and pain. It's like a new torture device. I never know when to expect it.

Come to think about it, Apple may have to pay for my psychiatric visits, too...

So, the story has an end for me. Further experiments and tests confirm that the solution for the ultra-destroyer noise is the following, try this:

1) Delete the device from the bluetooth screen (open preferences menu)

2) Reboot system and reset SMC; for iMac intel based: shutdown - disconnect energy cord from Mac (not only from power) wait 15 seconds or more (some sites say 3 minutes... I disconnected it for at least 5 minutes to be sure 😀 ) - reconnect and boot normally

3) On reboot, re-pair your device like is a new one (always in the bluetooth preferences).

After this (and after a week of tests) all seems returned to normality, with wifi on or off doesn't matter, I finally can watch a movie or listen to music for hours without risking my ears.

Hope someone find this useful.
