Here the WiFi works fine. Not drop at all. But same issue as everybody. Airport utility can't found the time capsule. Do, time machine can't perform the backup.
Someone have tried to contact Apple Support? In Brazil the support is really weak. So, I find know if someone can try the Apple US support and then make a post here about what they said. Thanks.
Had the same issue. It comes from the firewall default behaviour on Yosemite, see this link on how to fix it:
I made the procedure in the firewall, but, didn't work here. Same issue.
in the firewall options, add the Airport Utility and TC
then deactivate firewall, launch airport utility, check that you see TC (restart if not), check also that you see TC in finder
then reactivate firewall
should work..
Thank you. I did the steps that you mentioned and still didn't work. But, I figure out others things:
- When the Firewall is disable, the Airport Utility, Time Machine Backup and Finder works fine.
- But even adding Airport Utility and Time Machine apps in the Option list from Firewall, when I activate the Firewall, they stopped to work.
- So, I figure out that 2 things was blocked in Option List from Firewall: Discoveryd and Netbiosd. Not sure what they do, but, I just unblock them, allowing connection for both.
- After that, I restart my computer and looks everything is working now.
So, the question is: Do you know if allowing Discoveryd and Netbiosd can have any impact in my computer safety? And why they were blocked? I never blocked them before.
Well, about this issue we are sure that the problem is in the Firewall.
Thank you.
Taking down the firewall worked - once. I'm not happy having the firewall turned off all the time, hope Apple will fix this.
My firewall was never on yet I still can't find my time capsule in Yosemite. I tried adding airport utility and activated and deactivated firewall and still nothing
I solved the discovery issue for both Airport Utility and the network printer by unblocking Discoveryd in the firewall preferences. I did not unblock Netbiosd.
I wonder about the security risks of unblocking Discoveryd.
I've solved some of that by doing the following:
- Remove the Time Capsule entry in Keychain Access
- Click on the TC icon in Finder and then in "Connect as..."
- Re-enter your TC credentials.
I havent managed to make TC backups work though. When I try to remove the TC's Time machine credentials to see if it works, Keychain quits.
I have the latest gen Airport Extreme, mid-2011 Mac Mini with Yosemite and Airport Utility 6.3.4. Internet connection seems to be stable but I also cannot see the Airport device.
I just noticed I'm having the same issue. After updating to Yosemite, my disk connected to my Airport Extreme has disappeared from my Finder window sidebar, and when I open Airport Utility it shows "Internet" at the top, and then a spinning wheel at the bottom like it can't locate my Airport Extreme, or my Airport Time Capsule.
VERY FRUSTRATED
I am also having very similar issues. After upgrading to Yosemite, both my AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme are not detected by the AirPort utility-- I currently have to use my iPhone to manage those devices, which is sad.
Additionally, my Bonjour-based multifunction network printer is now no longer detected by my MacBook-- very frustrating. I can add it manually using its IP address, but then OS X doesn't realize it is a multifunction printer and, thus, I cannot scan.
I have a feeling this is an issue with Bonjour not working. I do not have my firewall enabled.
Anyone with more Bonjour savviness have any ideas?
I was having the same issue as you. I had tried resetting the TC itself and resetting the wifi settings and even tried the firewall trick to no avail. The solution that worked for me was shutting the Mac down itself and then turning it back on and performing an SMC reset.
An SMC reset is where you hold down CMD+Option+P+R until you hear the chime 3 times. From what I've read it wipes a lot of hidden temporary stuff that is stored, so that when you restart, it has to look for the information again.
I had to sign back in with my TC password, but then I was good.
Hope this helps.
Yeah, great. Now every time I want a backup I just have to switch off the firewall and do the Option+Command+P+R...
Does somebody have a permanent fix?
