I only did have to do it once. I've restarted and logged out trying to see if it was a one time fix. So, as far as I know, it IS a permanent fix.
Exactly my problem too. I can back up but not see my files. When I open the utility, the open panel gives me a spinning disk and it never finds the time capsule. No way to upgrade firmware.
This links solved the problem of Time Capsule and wireless network printer not being accessible in the finder, Airport Utilities not being able to find the Time Capsule, and backups that at one point weren't working. Adding each of these apps/utilities to the Yosemite firewall options solved all the problems I was having.
Update: My comment didn't get connected to the correct reference. See the post by CedricMonier on Oct 19, 2014 4:50 AM. See Yosemite: Time Capsule not found.
I found this solution for time machine drop down when on wifi :
I deactivated time machine, suppressed the Time capsule hd from the pref pane list, then in keychain, destroyed ALL the lines about my time capsule HD name, launched airport Utility until it discovers my time capsule HD, and changed the name of the ssid (not the name and password). Then launched again time machine pref pane, choosed the disk as time machine, and everything is ok now... for around 5 or 6 hours.
Hope this help you.
I also updated to Yosemite on my MacBook Air and now my Airport Time Capsule is not working. My network is fine. If I plug the cable from my DSL modem directly into the computer, the internet connection is there. But when I switch the cable from my DSL modem back to my Airport Time Capsule to configure my wireless network, the amber light flashes continually and never completes the configuration to create the network. This failure followed immediately upon completion of the upgrade to Yosemite. I have tried all the troubleshooting recommendations. It continues to fail everytime.
Try connecting your Ethernet plug to the WAN port on your DSL modem/router and connect the other end to one of the LAN ports on your time capsule. Although I still can't access the time capsule backups it fixed my wifi internet connection issue and the time capsule now shows up in airport. For the other issues I think that Apple has to come out with a fix specific for Yosemite and time capsule/machine issues. I hope I was some help
Well, I hope Apple identifies the issue we are all having and decides to release a patch sooner than later. My Mac that normally "just works" is now the only computer in my house that can't print and scan properly.
i solved thanks to a lot of the guys and paulz357
1.- on spotlight search keychain acces
2.- erase key info of the time capsule
3.- reboot
4.- enjoy
I've managed to find a temporary solution for Airport Utility not finding my Airport Time Capsule. On my first attempt I did a factory reset on the capsule which resulted in Airport utility finding the capsule. After configuring it in Airport utility, Time machine backup functioned normally. Next day the problem had returned viz Time Capsule not available. So I've carried out another factory reset and this time I've kept the Time Capsule Data mounted and leave the mac in sleep mode. If I shutdown the mac the problem re-occurs. The only other issue that I know I have with Yosemite is a slow boot up.
It would good if Apple were to acknowledge these issues so we know they are working on solving them.
iMac 27 inch late 2012
3 TB Fusion Drive
Airport Time Capsule
Yosemite OS X 10.10
I don't believe it!!!
Whilst in sleep mode my mac rebooted due to an error so have lost contact with Airport Time Capsule again.
Come on Apple its about time we heard from you.
You do know that Apple will never respond here, correct?
And that they will not acknowledge an issue until they provide the next update? No one here knows when that might be.
Changed from pc to mac a year & 1 month ago. Until now everything just worked which I have come to expect from Apple. Having spent nearly 3K I'm a little peeved to be left totally in the dark so I leave my comments here in the hope that they may just read them.
The only way that you might know that Apple will see your comment is to contact them directly.
If you have AppleCare, you can call and get phone support to fix the issue. I had read about the various fixes here but it was Apple Support that really knew what to do. I did ask if they were aware of these issues, and basically the response was that the normal "fix" on a connectivity issue took about 5 minutes whereas we were on the phone for much longer (I didn't really keep track of time). The person who helped me was extremely knowledgable and helpful, and did, in fact, know all the various ways to trouble shoot my issue such that it was resolved and I have had no further problems.
I have a iMac late 2013 with OS 10.10 and a new AirPort Time Capsule 2TB 802.11ac Wi-Fi with firmware 7.7.3
Here there is the same problem: intermittent disconnects from Time Capsule Wi-Fi!!!!!
And it's impossible load a different configuration file in Time Capsule, because Utility AirPortalways crashes.
Apple fix it, please!
