new x yosemite doesn't support airport utilities.....
AirPort Utility is already built into Yosemite. What version of AirPort Utility are you asking about here?
time capsule doesn't work.....
You mean to say that the Time Capsule won't power up?
If not, then what exactly doesn't work? We will need to rely on your description for details, since our crystal ball is broken and we cannot see your network.
Adding Airport Utility and Time Capsule in the Yosemite Firewall worked for me flawlessly. This is what I did :
1. System Preferences / Security & Privacy / Firewall / Firewall Options / + button
2. Enter Airport Utility in the Search field / select Airport Utility / Add
3. Enter Time Machine in the Search field / select Time Machine / Add
4. OK
5. Unplug Time Capsule from the wall socket / wait 2 minutes / plug it in again
6. Airport Utility... and I could see the Time Capsule again 🙂
7. Time Machine... and I could see the Time Capsule again 🙂
Note :
- I did not have to add Airport Utility and Time Capsule in the previous MacOS versions. If Apple has added more security, it should display a proper message when a user is unable to find the Time Capsule : "Due to increased security, please add Airport Utility in the Firewall as an exception".
10.10.1 doesn't solve this problem, Time Capsule disappeared from AirPort Utility and Time Machine Backups very soon after a 'lucky' success.
I am getting frustrated...
It seems work to me. great. thanks.
I cannot connect to my TC since the last update of Yosemite, despite it working fine throughout the beta testing. Im running a iMac 27 inch 2009 model
To get around it I setup a local wifi network, thats not connected to the internet, for all my devices, and restarted my Mac.
I connect my TC via ethernet, and have the router in another room. It found my TC without issue, could access and backup without problem. Then I just switched back to my normal wifi to access the internet. It won't recognise my TC with this, so I just change it back to the local network to backup whenever I need to, without any problem.
Hope this helps, cause it bugged my for ages
when my air/yosemite woke this morning, i had a message from time machine that backup failed because the name of the backup location had been changed. neither of the macs i have that backup to the same time capsule can see their backup files. Finder shows the time capsule and airport utility can access but it is slow to respond. Time machine cannot. TC software 7.7.3
I fixed my AirPort Time Capsule, Time Machine, AirPort utility problems by resetting AirPort Time Capsule name to original name I used when I setup Time Machine AND setting ALL Energy Saver options to OFF. Everything working as expected for about a week now...
I have the same issue with TC and WIFI already long time! And Apple doesn't wont to fix it!! I ask they- What is the profit from YOsemite? Please give me back that remarkable company Apple that respected the customers.
I am running a MacBook Air and Time Capsule under Yosemite 10.10.1 and had the same problem as widely reported here.
Many of the fixes sounded way too complicated so I tried the SMC reset (CMD+Option+P+R) because it sounded within my capabilities. It worked and continues to work two days after.
I'll get back to you if it stops working.
So, I've had the same or similar issues as discussed above, and here's what worked for me.
Based on some research, there is some bulletin out there regarding the naming of the Airport Time Capsule, and how anything over 26 characters causes issues with Yosemite recognizing the TC.
I purchased a new TC about a week ago and installed it with no issues. I innocently thought I could rename it to include my family name at the front of it - wouldn't think that would have any effect, but in hindsight, that's when my Macbook Pro started having issues finding the TC.
So, last night, I restarted my computer, which gave me a short "window" of the TC being recognized. I used that to rename the TC to its default, "Airport Time Capsule." Since then, I haven't lost the connection, and have been able to successfully back up my Macbook Pro with no disruption.
Seems like a silly thing to cause so much issues, but all I can say it has solved the issue for me.
I think that I may have the same or similar issue that you have. I bought a new time capsule (the tower with 2TB) and it fails to back up hourly or daily. I have to manually force it to back up. My wifi works fine. I will try powering down to see if that will help. I am also waiting for the next schedule backup at 10:06am to see if it does it after making some changes on my iPhone6. I was thinking that maybe it was not doing hourly backups because no changes had been made but I think my last time capsule (not tower) always showed the last hour backup time. As with some others I am frustrated. I believe it is supposed to just do it's tasks without direction.
I just did this as you instructed. I then did "back up now" and it is doing a fairly large backup. I am hoping that it will now do and show hourly and daily backups. Thank you for the help.
Well I followed your instructions, did a manual backup and waited for the 11:46am hourly backup and it did not do it. Any further thoughts on what I might be doing wrong? Thank you in advance for your assistance.
I CAN access airport utility, I canNOT access disk settings. Any suggestions??
Which settings?
Ever since I installed Yosemite my time capsule has had brown out issues. Sometimes I can access the TC sometimes I can't. Is this issue being resolved?
