Check if you system is automatically looking for and doing software updates --

It may also be doing many refreshes - so you have to check all your preferences.

If Apple is not putting a version of Yosemite that has the updates incorporated - thats really low.

Lived with it with Snow Leopard that I had 2 updates to install after installing software from media - and I was an early adopter.

I found some suggestions on another website... I had turned on bluetooth for "hand-off" last night to test.... and sure enough, that is when the slow internet & wifi began. Turned off bluetooth, ran 2 more speed tests at speedtest.bhn.net and it is back to over 30MB download speed. Will keep testing but, so far, Bluetooth seems to be the culprit!

Test #3 and still getting normal (fast) speeds.

Alright guys. I fixed the slow internet issue on Yosemite for me. I don't know if this is going to be helpful to any of you, since the cause, in my case, was rather... Peculiar.

My slow internet issues on Yosemite started happening "randomly" earlier today - To be more specific, at around the time I opened AirDrop to test it with my phone.

Turns out the problem was not so random after all.

After Googling for a while, I saw a lot of people recommending to turn off Bluetooth, since that seems to be causing with Wi-Fi. I use an iMac, so turning off Bluetooth is definitely not an option, since my mouse, tracked, and keyboard all connect to my Mac via Bluetooth.

Then I was doing some serious work on my Mac to see if it was some app sucking bandwidth like crazy. I found the Finder window that had AirDrop opened. It quickly flashed to my mind that AirDrop uses Bluetooth, so I thought that maybe closing that Windows was going to solve with my issue.

And it turns out it has. I killed the Finder window with AirDrop and my slow internet problems are now gone. Before you do any crazy fix, please make sure you don't have an AirDrop window opened anywhere.

Since I am a developer, I will be filling a bug with Apple and hopefully they will be able to use this info, since it is related to Bluetooth, to fix all Yosemite Wi-Fi problems for once and for all.

I upgraded yesterday to Yosemite on my MacBook Pro (Retina) and internet connection was VERY slow. I disabled Bluetooth and internet now works fine.

Trying to enable Bluetooth slows internet again. I guess I have to live without Bluetooth enabled devices (Apple Magic Mouse primarily) until a fix is issued or someone finds a better hack... :S
