iTunes update won't go away

I have updated my iTunes to 12.0.1 on my retina macbook pro, but the notification won't go away. I've tried to reset my computer and sign out of the store, but the icon badge will not go away.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10)

Ha, you left windows because their operating system and whole eco system is rubbish. Apple is much better.

That being said, I am having the same issue. I installed Yosemite on both my iMac and MacBook Pro, it's only doing it on the iMac.

I just used someone else's answer on here of re-downloading iTunes from the Apple website, and that fixed it straight away, give it a try.

Hi: Having the same problem, but the solution stated doesn't work and I've tried it many times. After downloading 12.0.1, nothing appears in the download or my default download folder. What I did find is these two files,

iTunes Library.itl

iTunes Library Extras.it

which apparently download to:

[DriveName] ▸ Users ▸ [viceuser] ▸ Music ▸ iTunes

Is this the correct behavior? In any case opening iTunes after these are downloaded does not update to 12.0.1, but remains at iTunes 12.0.0.140. I also tried the only other thing I can think of, which is to directly click the two files above. For some reason, the Mac tries to open them with Windows iTunes (installed in parallels and on Bootcamp. Forcing them to attempt to open with Mac ITunes, Mac ITunes oppens, but ITunes does not report the new versions.

In all attempts I started with iTunes not running.

As the Application Store is so insistent, this feels like torture (no, not the real stuff we did/didn't do recently; the former Vice President was not involved in any way, I'm certain). To add water to boarding, iPhoto, which I would rather disappear, seems to open every time I connect my iPod, but I may have (may have) turned that off using a "switch" even though the documentation wasn't clear and I had no idea what I was/am doing (unlike the former Vice President).

Thanks!

Mark

I just installed iTunes 12.0.1 update FROM THE APPLE SITE, not through the App store. Also tried the Terminal "ignore itunes" idea. The above suggestions didn't work for me. I still show the notification icon stating that I need to update my iTunes, even though it IS now 12.0.1. The macbook was restarted as well. I guess I will just have to ignore the notification.
