How can I uninstall OS X Yosemite and return to OS X Mavericks?
I'm shocked they removed it, but I am by no means a techie who can follow those kind of instructions, I saw a few suggestions on "how to" do that , but I was blinded by the science. I just want to get on with my work without being dragged down or bogged down with how slow everything is now and I also get that little coloured wheel coming up all the time, freezing various actions and the pop-ups are maddening! I'm going to the Apple store, let them sort it out, that's why I have a One to One membership.
It sounds as though you might have inadvertently downloaded some adware. If that is the case, you can remove it by following either of these (manually or by downloading an app which will remove it):
http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT6506
http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php
And, unless you've downloaded Mavericks previously, the only legal way to obtain it is through the app store where it is no longer available. The hosts do remove any suggestions on how to obtain it illegally as that violates the ToU here.
((((((((((THANK YOU))))))))))))))!!!!!!!!!!
The adware medic app is amazing and sorted out A LOT of my issues so thank you for sharing that with me! It worked a treat and the computer is much, much faster now!!!!
I'm halfway to happiness!
Thanks again!

I totally agree with you, its absolutely ridiculous - I can't remember seeing anything about Yosemite making Final Cut or other programs completely useless! These sort of reckless actions are unfortunately making me think long and hard about using Apple.
Agreed, my Mavis Beacon Typing program, will no longer operate in Yosemite. My Microsoft Office 2008 Suite also wouldn't open before the latest update. Losing that, forced me to use the lousy Libre Office program. At least Office works again. I never used Final Cut, but I used to do some video editing, so I can imagine what the loss is for you. Apple is probably trying to force users to purchase their apple software. Still if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

None of the Final Cut Pro users I know are having any issues and RoaringApps reports all indicate that versions 5, 7 and X all work. If you are having issues, I suggest a re-install from source is probably in order.
Offiice 2008 works in Yosemite very well.
I am furious at losing my FCPro!!!! FURIOUS....I DONT NEED THIS ADDED WORK OR STRESS
Do you have a question, or are you just here to whine about something?
I've just sent this to http://www.apple.com/feedback/
(If you have a problem, don't forget this step so Apple actually hears about your issue.)
Dear Apple,
I've never done this before but I downgraded after finding the Yosemite OS frustratingly difficult. My very first visual impression was when I noticed a “flat" window border was invisible against the background colour of a webpage.
I'm getting past 45 and my vision isn't great but suddenly, with this upgrade, I strained to see basic design elements. Without contrast and colour, it is hard to find buttons, hard to tell icons apart, and very hard to read text. I don’t have a problem with one aesthetic over another, but I couldn’t use the computer.
It's a new feeling to wonder if I won't be capable of using future Apple products. I hadn't really thought about that before. I hope something can be done to make the next version easier for those who have real problems with this one.
Bruce
I really do hope some of these things can be addressed. I feel like somebody's design opinion is making my computer actually unusable. If I cannot read the text, the computer is broken, or I am, but I think it's easier to fix the computer.
Nothing will addressed hear, so it's falling on deaf ears. We are users also. Tell Apple here feedback
Pete
I would like it removed because ever since the install my imac is Incredibly slow and glitchy. Now it will not even boot unless in safe mode. NVRAM restart and PRAM etc. The worst thing appl has ever done is this lousy upgrade
Then read the thread you posted in.
I did read the post .... That does not work it reverts back to yosemite.. Seem to me you do little of anything other than surf the posts to act like an .....
and once you upgrade to yosmite office will no longer work ... it even says as much in a warning before the install
