Yosemite iOS8 airdrop only from mac to iphone.

I Have a Macbook Pro 15" Early 2013 with yosemite installed, and a iphone 6 with iOS8.

My problem is on my macbook airdrops work fine, i can see my iphone and i can send a file from my macbook to the iphone, But not the other way around.

On my iphone i can't see my macbook under airdrop. i have tried change the option only contacts or all, both on the mac and iphone. that doesn't help anything.

i have tried turning off the firewall. that doesn't help anything.

Had the same issue but after 3hrs and four different people at Apple support we got it to work.

1st we got the iPhone to be able to see the MBP by disabling the firewall

System Preferences>Security & Privacy>Firewall>Turn Off Firewall

2nd we were able to get it to work with the Firewall

Firewall Options...>sharingd>Allow incoming connections>Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections

I had the same problem, persistent even after upgrading my iPhone 5S to iOS 8.1. MacBook Air (mid 2012) would AirDrop to my iPhone but not the other way around.

I attempted to pair them via Bluetooth as suggested in this thread. But when doing so I actually received an error message on my iPhone: "Connection Unsuccessful. 'name-MacBookAir' is not supported." !?

Strangely enough, even in failure this resolution worked. After trying and failing to pair them, and choosing to forget the devices on both iPhone and MBA, I can now see my MBA on my iPhone's AirDrop.

Apple in 2014: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have this same problem! I have a new MacBook Pro and an iPhone 5C. I found that if you go to finder on the mac, click go to folder, go to ~/library/preferences. Search the folder for Bluetooth. Find the com.apple. file that has a bunch of random letters in the name. There should also be files with mulitouch track pad and Bluetooth file exchange in the names. These you do not need. Now trash the file with a bunch of random letters in it. It should instantly regenerate itself. My iPhone could immediately see my Mac after I did this.

After trying to get this to work all day, I logged out of iCloud on my mac (which did this whole "do you wan to delete blah-blah-blah from this mac...") then logged back in and now I can do airdrop and handoff. Still can't get the bluetooth to pair between the two though?

Seems like there's a lot of people with this issue and no response from apple. Maybe they should put a way to deal with it in that annoying new "tips" feature.

I am using a iMac (20-inch, Mid 2007) with yosemite and an iPhone 6 with 8.1.1 sf while I can see both devices when pairing, I get a message saying that my iMac is not supported?? I also cannot see my other computer on the same network not my two iPhone 6s, all are discoverable and I cannot see the iPhones at all.
