It's also worth submitting a Yosemite bug report as it's more a Yosemite problem rather than ATV since it worked fine with Mavericks.
OK. That's a good idea. I have done that.
Video on extended desktop choppy on Airplay after upgrading to Yosemite.
There's new software for Apple TV - try updating your Apple TV. It solved a problem I was having with using Airplay mirroring and playing audio simultaneously.
Whew I thought I was the only one with choppy stacatto audio and video after going from Mavericks to Yosemite with mirror to my ATV2. I've done some work arounds but it would seem from all this there is a bug. Undoing blue tooth knocks out the magic mouse so no go there..
Dear Apple. Please acknowledge and fix this.
I started experiencing this problem after I upgraded to Yosemite. A few days later I found this post, updated my apple tv software, and the problem was fixed. Now, several days later the problem seems to have returned. The only thing I'm certain that has changed is that I repaired my disk and disk permissions to try to get my iMac working properly. I was was experiencing problems with mail and shut down after the software upgrade.
Same problem. My apple TV's are all updated and I can mirror using my MBP with yosemite but my iMac with yosemite cannot mirror. I can here sound only.
Several days, the Airplay mirroring issue comes and goes. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't.
Apple left a stink bug in Yosemite.
Macbook Air and turning off blue tooth doesn't solve it completely
Please file bug report in Yosemite feedback. I have filed it again. I don't think they have patched it so far.
IIs this problem fixed in the new update to Yosemite?
No, new update from Yosemite 10.10.1 and Apple TV didn't work at all.
They didn't address the problem. Please file feed back bug report.
Have Yosemite 10.10.1 running on a late 2013 iMac and have just updated the Apple TV software. The Apple TV appears on my Airplay menu but it does not allow me to select "Mirror iMac". "Extend Desktop" is always checked.
This just displays a black screen on the Apple TV - unless I play a movie with iTunes, then the Apple TV video and audio work through Airplay.
Display Preferences only shows one display. There does not seem to be a way to use the "extended desktop" with other Mac apps like Eye TV or Keynote. This is irritating...
Grrr
I experienced the same problem. Please file a bug report as many times as possible. I won't stop doing that until they treat it seriously.
BTW - my iMac is networked with ethernet cable. I tried connecting with wifi instead but that didn't help. I also tried turning bluetooth off. Only thing I haven't tried is restarting my Airport Time Capsule - but since iTunes works OK with Airplay that seems an unlikely fix. As you say, report the bug to Apple ...
