I cannot clear history without clearing cookies with Safari 8.0

I agree with the above comments. You can delete the history info 'ONE AT AT TIME', not with the Cmd-A.

This is a total pain. If you don't want to delete your current cookies, that seems your only option.

Please, please, please fix this! At least give us the option to delete history or history and cookies.

You go to History, show history, then Edit, select all and then hit delete. Works for me, thanks to all who replied on this forum.

If nothing else works, here’s something that I got from someone on OS X Daily and it did the job very well : "Here is another if you have an iPad and have iCloud activated there and your MAC : Delete history from iPad and iCloud will sync that to your MAC, without removing your login cookies."

When is this going to be addressed in a timely manner so Safari can handle cleaning the history like the previous version???? This is ridiculous that we have to point this MAJOR FLAW out to overpaid egos. What part in your brains made you think this was a great idea to leave as is??? I love apple, have for years, but so called brainiacs have crapped over everything being user friendly and are waaaaaaay too caught up in superficial pointless cosmetics. Like color checking files now with a dot? Thanks, whoever checked that off as worthy upgrade, that manager should be demoted. Now searching through hundreds of folders and files at work is a **** nightmare, so thanks again for that brilliant move as well with your millions of dollars to not improve anything with.

It did not for me.

No it does not. Still have to work around by going to history,show history, Edit, Select all and hit the delete key. Such a mess.

I agree. I could care less about the color of the iTunes in my dock or the color of the m,menu bar, in fact I hate the new color. Mutes the contrast for old eyes, Terrible so called upgrade.

Not for me either. This is a real pain. After the problems with mail and now this s**t makes you wonder if anyone will trust another upgrade. The people at Apple couldn't care less!

I agree. I too have been an Apple customer since the Apple IIc and this IS the worst it's ever been. We used to be able to count on Apple for quality but it appears as if they've hired a bunch of folks from Microsoft as their promises have now become much bigger than their deliveries. And quality is a thing of the past apparently. It's quite sad that they apparently don't bother to rigorously test their updates and upgrades anymore. Customer satisfaction has to be down. Eventually they're going to find out that they've ruined their reputation by pumping out these poor quality products and all their business is going to go to MS because if you're going to have to put up with poor quality, you might as well put up with cheap too.

I Cannot get to show history. No edit button. How are you able to do this? From all I am reading we are still not able to clear history. Even in settings mine is gray an can't click it. Hmm I just hate the history showing and taking up space. I have IPad air.

Go to History in the menu bar and click Show History. From there, you can select the item you want to delete (or all by pressing CMD+A) and press the delete button (don’t press Clear Histoy at the bottom of the page or you will lose all your datas).

I didn't want to clear all history, just one search item I had looked up multiple times over a spread of dates. I brought up 'history' then entered the item I wanted to clear in the 'search' box, bottom right, then just hit delete. So now it does not come up in the search bar if I enter the first few letters.

For whatever reason I am now able to clear history just as it was before. 🙂 Hmmm think maybe the Apple people fixed it. And for norma, you can clear just one item by sliding to the left on that one and the 'delete' button should show.
