How do I disable iPhoto (Yosemite) from automatically launching when I plug in my iPhone?

Had never had this problem with iPhoto, but now that I've updated to OS X Yosemite, iPhoto auto-launches every time I plug in my iPhone and I don't find how to disable it.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10), Processor: 2.8 GHz dual-core Intel Core i7

Michael, D.Josephs' solution on page 1, October 18th, solved the iPhone automatically opening problem for me AND it was super easy - good luck. In case you can't find it on page 1, here's what he wrote:

This is how I fixed it for myself.

Step 1. iPhoto --> Preferences... --> General --> Connecting Camera Opens... --> No Application

Step 2. Then, with each iOS device that causes iPhoto to launch...

a. Launch Image Capture.

b. Select the device.

c. Display the device options by clicking on that little triangle-in-square icon in the lower left corner.

d. Update the "Connecting this [iOS device] opens:" to No Application

This is the solution that worked for me. None of the others, including trashing the plist solution, worked. This did the trick, thx!

There may be different reasons for iPhoto launching again and again.

  • If you simply have set if to launch, when you connect a camera, then iPhoto will launch, if you connect any device that has photos.
  • In image Capture you can set different applications for different devices, soy may need to change the settings in Image Capture.
  • If your home folder permissions have become messed up, you may be unable to change any permission settings in iPhoto or Image Capture at all. Then changes cannot be saved in the plist files and will not stick. In that case there is no help but to trash the plist files. This will make it possible to create new, writable files and to save new preference setting. It may even be necessary to repair he permissions and access control lists on the Home folder.
