How do I disable iPhoto (Yosemite) from automatically launching when I plug in my iPhone?

Had never had this problem with iPhoto, but now that I've updated to OS X Yosemite, iPhoto auto-launches every time I plug in my iPhone and I don't find how to disable it.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10), Processor: 2.8 GHz dual-core Intel Core i7

Doesn't work. Cameras, flash memory cards and iOS devices show fine in other applications but in Image Capture it shows Devices (0) even though Image Capture is automatically loading. Because there is a zero device count according to Image Capture there is no 'tiny, easy-to-miss disclosure triangle'. I'm quite familiar with how it _should_ work but it is not working. There is a Bug with a capital 'B' in Yosemite Image Capture.

In iPhoto the triangle is present and it does recognize devices but turning off launching does not actually work (preferences). Bug again.

I've found that this problem is widely reported. The solution above does not work.

Agree with Michael...works for me on Mid-2014 MacBook Pro running 10.10. I think it's a pain in the *** that Apple makes you individually turn off each device through Image Capture, but it works. I can now plug my iPhone into the USB, an SD Card in to the SD Card slot, and a CF Card (via adapter) into the USB port, all without automatically opening any programs. I did this through Image Capture each time to tell it do nothing when something is plugged in. But I have no doubt there are bugs...likely running older computers or different configurations. Yosemite seems to be really picky about hardware and software. It's causing lots of other problems.

Agreed. I hate when an OS makes me use a program for something I don't want or need. I have no use for iPhoto, other than when I use iMovie or Final Cut Pro, where I am required to make folders in iPhoto and import photos to get the movie programs to recognize them. It ****** me off, and makes an extra few steps for me, but that's Apple for you. Not a fan of Yosemite at this point either. Causing graphics problems, even with brand new computer, and makes using 3rd party SSDs on older computer nearly impossible.

You seem to be under some delusion. There is no requirement to use iPhoto at all.

Perhaops you need to learn how to use those app too. Again, no requirement to use iPhoto.

Learn how to use the apps and then you won't have a problem. But that's you for you I suppose.

If you don't want advice why are you posting on an internet forum? Especially why are you posting incorrect information on an internet forum.

Remember, you're not the only person who reads what's written here. When I see clueless utterances I correct them for the benefit of others who may read the thread later. Simply, if you don't like iPhoto don't use it. You don't have to for any purpose. If you learned how to use the other apps you would know that.

I understood what he wrote. iPhoto was a good idea that was poorly implemented. That was obvious to me from the beginning. You seem to be the slow one here. They made it a default application to launch in the OS. It overwrote everyones settings. Why do you think this thread exists? You should pay attention before you post ignorant, rude statements.
