Iphone 6 is muting speakerphone automatically.

This problem is getting pretty exhausting. If I am on a phone call, using soeakerphone, the mute will sometimes engage for no reason. Anywhere from 2-10 minutes into a call when I am not touching the phone even. On a couple occasions, I have been looking at the phone and watched it suddenly turn on mute for no reason.

Additionally, today I was on an extended call (45 minutes) on speakerphone. I watched as the mute engaged automatically on three occasions during the call AND the contacts were displayed. All while the phone sat on a flat table and I watched from a distance.

What would cause this?? I've been conscious of what words I'm using and it doesn't seem like anything would be listening to activate them. It's very annoying when you're not paying attention and talk for a few minutes before realizing the other party heard nothing. Any ideas!??

OH MY GOD, APPLE, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??

So my company bought 10 new iphones through Verizon. We only need nine, currently, so we planned to keep "one to grow on".

My iphone 6 (not 6s, if I misspoke earlier) had the problem of muting itself and adding calls at random, and from reading this forum, that seemed to be a hardware problem. Also, a GENIUS told me that it might be the result of having charged the phone with a Moshi cable. My fix yesterday was to replace MY phone with the reserve phone. After migrating my settings (I still have to re-download 17 apps that don't seem to have ever backed up to iTunes, THANKS, APPLE), THE REPLACEMENT PHONE DOES THE SAME THING.

Sooooo exasperating to be on a call and to constantly have to un-mute it.

Now I've set LTE to Data only. Hopefully that does something.

I've bought ONLY Apple computers, personally and for my company, since 1990, and I've purchased dozens of iPhones. If no Apple person addresses this forum, I'm going to start Thinking Different.

I'm having pretty the same problems. My iPhone 6 randomly mutes even when I'm not touching the phone. This can happen twenty times in a call, and it's unbelievably frustrating. Often I don't notice that I've been muted until the other party alerts me.

It seems to the the buttons on the left of the screen that are most affected: the mute and the add buttons. The phone will suddenly try to add another party to the call. This happens over and over again during calls. The phone will be muted at the same time, and I have to work my way back to the dialer screen in order to unmute.

If I have the number pad open, for example when I'm working through the menu of a large company such as my bank, then sometimes random digits (again mainly from the left of the screen) will be dialed. So I'm trying to enter, for example, a 16 digit credit card number, and the phone keeps interjecting digits, making the exercise impossible.

Sometimes after a call the screen stays bank, and I can't hang up. I can't do anything in fact. I can't even turn the phone off. I guess I could do a reset, but that's a rather drastic action to have to take in order to end a call.

I would describe the iPhone 6 as a piece of crap -- at least with regard to using it as a telephone. It's close to unusable as an actual phone.

I found a work-around! In Settings, under "Cellular", enable LTE for "Data Only". I haven't had the problem since doing that.

My I.T. guy says that Apple does know about this problem and will be issuing a fix in an upcoming software update. So frustrating that they never addressed this thread or any of the others like it (that I saw while I was having the problem).

Like you, I am having the exact same issue. The issue occurs when I am on a phone call using the apple earbuds or speakerphone. One time, it even opened facebook and accepted all my event invitations. Very strange. I will try and turn the LTE voice off and see if that makes a difference.

I'm sure if you call technical support they will want you to restore the phone and start all over. I hope Apple is aware of this thread and finds a solution to this issue!
