AirDrop?

Is there still no AirDrop between iOS and OS X Yosemite?

Your link refers to Apple Devices. Devices are iOS-based things like iPhones, iPads, etc. A Mac is not a Device.

This Requirements page on Upgrading to Yosemite says this:

AirDrop between Mac computers and iOS devices is supported by the following Mac models:

  • MacBook Air (2012 or newer)
  • MacBook Pro (2012 or newer)
  • iMac (2012 or newer)
  • Mac mini (2012 or newer)
  • Mac Pro (Late 2013)

And, if you click on this link in the article you posted, using AirDrop to share with people using a Mac with Yosemite, you will also see the requirements for Airdrop between a Device and a Mac

THANK YOU for clarifying this 🙂 Although it stinks because I have a great mid-2010 Mac Book Pro, which cannot communicate with my iPad 4 using Airdrop. Wah wah waaaaaaah. Thanks but no thanks Apple.

Also seems Handoff will not work with my MB Pro (due to older blotch technology)...so in essence, the coolest features of Yosemite are non-functional on my zippy, upgraded lap top. Lame.

Cheers, David
