Bluetooth problem with OSX Yosemite: Magic Mouse and Keyboard

Hurra! What a great update 10.10.2 is - now I got the long not missed Bluetooth/Wifi problem back and he brought his good friend battery draining. With Wifi on I lose 1% battery every 2 minutes which gives me around 3 hours and a little bit. My old 2008 MacBook had 5h battery when it retired after 5 years of exactly the same usage... Looks like I basically faced all the great issues that Yosemite offers. Thanks a lot. 😠

The good news: I could reactivate my Mavericks Time Machine backup disk from October 👿 Looks like that a simple, honest, straight downgrade will solve this mess.

After reading and trying many of the hacks and workarounds here I noted a comment regarding frequency of the Airport wireless base station. I switched to the 5GHz option on my AirPort Extreme Base Station (I also use an AirPort Express to extend the range of my network) and both Magic Mouse and wireless network are working 100%.

I'm on a MBP 15 inch Retina from Late 2013 using my second MM because I got so angry due to this issue I smashed the first one.

I've been running on 5GHz exclusively since I've got my MBA and I still get lags and disconnections.

I just bought a CSR BT4.0 adapter from eBay and switched over from the built-in Broadcom in my MacBook. So far so good, Bluetooth Explorer from the Hardware IO Tools for Xcode reports a much higher link quality and RSSI as well.

I have a 15" MBP 2.6 Ghz i7 running 10.10.2. My magic mouse disconnects all the time no matter what im doing or how long i leave it "idle" or if its constant use. It will disconnect and I've tried going with the trackpad to the bluetooth options and clicking "connect" on my magic mouse with no avail. sometimes i just have to restart the mac and it will come back. Sometimes it will come back after a few minutes. few minutes! I came to this thread the other day and saw something about lifting the mouse up and clicking the clicking it for it to reconnect. Ive been doing that for 2 days now and it seems to connect it again. Just tried resetting the SMC earlier today but that didnt help. I think its coincidence seeing some many others have this issue too but I started noticing all the disconnects after i installed the Mobee magic mouse rechargeable battery module in my magic mouse.

Yep. In the meantime there've been a bunch of people telling the obvious (having restarted wifi, having done some resetting, etc.) - which has been demonstrated not to fix it. So these are likely going to come back sometime soon. Your post about the rechargeable module actually makes me respond to this with an update - it''s been quite some time that I've switched back to alkaline.

Problems are gone. Very consistently.

So, rechargeable are a valid approach not to use...

Hello ! Weird thing.. I never lost wifi connection or magic mouse // i was reading all those posts and didn't understand why it happens to those ppl ... 'cause since i install Yosemite .. everything was working fine .. i had no trouble at all.. BUT recently i bought a new wifi router.. and man guess what .. just i plugged it in ,, i lots magic mouse connection .. then wifi start loosing connection ... just everything .. interesting. . i turned off my new router and plugged up the old one.. and everything get back to normal .. this is just stupid.. i've had my D-link DIR-628 for 4 years and had no problem at all.. now i bought new Asus rt-n66u .. fancy expensive router.. everything start falling apart .. both routers has 2.4 and 5 Ghz .. but on an old d-link dir-628 its all working good, and on a new asus rt-n66 i lose magic mouse connection every single day.. i just simply don't get it.. ...

PS i bought new asus rt-n66u 'cause it has more futures than my old d-link dir-628..

yet most routers has Broadcom processor .. and my old D-link dir-628 has different model .. maybe there is some possibilities that you can try with the router that runs Not on a Broadcom processor .. kinda interesting.. maybe stupid..

I Use my mbp and Magic Mouse for work so I'm in and out of a bunch of offices everyday. Each place has its own network. I know my mouse disconnects for me all the time whether I'm on wifi or lan. Especially happens at home where im connected to my time capsules 5ghz network.

OK, I've now run for one month on the new batteries. The trackpad had announced low battery a week ago, and had told me that it would no longer work yesterday. It kept working until I did a reboot today, at which point it didn't couple anymore. Remaining voltage on the battery set was 2.164 V. I did not get any weird behavior really during that month - like twice or so I had a short interference, but rather on the keyboard, which I could resolve just moving the keyboard by some inches around. So no issues really. My theory about 2.5 V doesn't hold either, since I went significantly below that.

So in general, the observation is this: With rechargeable batteries, I get problems, massively. With alkaline batteries, I have no problems. The problems seem to be not clearly voltage related. My Alkaline batteries are from Sony, black color, with blue color on the negative end, and green on the positive end.

In that sense, problem solved. If someone wants to have some Duracell "StayCharged" NiMH AA batteries, just drop me a note. I've some to share. They're really great, just not for Apple keyboards and mice ;-)

Add me to the list. I have the same intermittant half second lag with my Magic Mouse. A restart fixes the problem until the lag starts again.

I was not experiencing this problem with my mouse until a couple of days ago. It only happens when my wifi is on. Wifi off -- mouse works fine.

Yosemite has been nothing but issues for me, really. This is the newest one. Apple, for the first time ever, you're wearing on my last nerve.

Just a little update. And keep in mind, I know -nothing- in-depth about any of this stuff OR if it's been discussed already in the past 26 pages but...

I had been screwing around with my router because I've been having internet issues and my mouse issue started when I switched my router channel to 11 and stopped when I took it back off of 11. Granted, my router had been on 11 for quite awhile before this was an issue but I had changed it recently and when I put it back, there were major mouse issues with sticking. Now my router is on automatic for the moment and I'm having no issues with the mouse.

Same problem. Magic mouse and keyboard disconnect spontaneously. Most of the time it comes back in a minute or two. Today it did not come back right away. I checked the forums and found this thread and read about the relationship to wifi. On a hunch I turned wifi off and noticed in my bluetooth preference pane that the mouse reconnected almost immediately. I hit a key on the keyboard and it reconnected right away. I turned wifi back on and the mouse and keyboard continue to work. The statistical significance of this test is ONE sample. So, nadda significance. But, I will try to remember for the next time this happens. I also have major lag issues with my magic mouse and Mac Pro at home ... I will try to remember to cycle wifi when I have that problem again and see what happens.

Sounds like a driver problem to me. Some weird interaction between the wifi driver and the bluetooth driver. I suspect all the discussion about the channel, batteries, etc is a red hering. Apple has a driver problem that needs to be fixed. This problem is a big irritation.

On march 20, I installed the 2015-002 security update + the Safari 7.1.4 and my Magic trackpad started to be erratic. It disconnected itself continuously so I changed the batteries 3-4 times using used batteries from toys and other things. No improvement. Yesterday I bought new batteries and installed them this morning. I immediately felt something in my hand and it developed into a chest pain. I have to say that I can sometimes feel the wifi so i'm an electro sensitive person. But never I felt such a chest pain with bluetooth. I turn it off and the pain vanish one hour after. My guess is that they boosted or changed the frequency used and it affected the track pad and me. I called Apple to warn them immediately, so If anybody has a hart condition, be aware. I unfortunately have to stop using the trackpad and Bluetooth. It's a shame cause I loved it. Anybody experienced something similar?
