Bluetooth problem with OSX Yosemite: Magic Mouse and Keyboard

Hello everyone,

I've a problem on my MacBook Pro with Retina Display 13" (late 2013).

I've always used it plugged with an external monitor (I love double screen), magic mouse and bluetooth keyboard. On Mavericks everything was perfect with this setup.

Yesterday I installed OSX Yosemite and I've found a boring problem: my Magic Mouse and my Bluetooth Keyboard have a 0.5 second of latency, lag. This happen when the Macbook is not plugged with battery charger. When he is on charge, the problem don't exist.

I noticed this bug also on the public beta of this summer and submit the feedback.

I hoped that they fixed this before release but the bug is still here.

How can i solve this boring problem?

I also reported this issue again and again during each beta release.

This makes the MacBook basically unusable in battery power for doing any kind of design and coding work.

I don't have any bluetooth addons or third party utilities. I also tried clearing PRAMs, and reinstalling Yosemite, to no avail.

Here are some threads about the issue, which, I'm noticing, is common.

Note that while the issue is kind of tolerable using the mouse, it's tragic with the keyboard.

Does this prevent you from using OS X Yosemite?

The issue makes it very difficult for me to use OS X Yosemite

For the report, here are the issues I submitted about this using the feedback assistant:

On march 20, I installed the 2015-002 security update + the Safari 7.1.4 and my Magic trackpad started to be erratic. It disconnected itself continuously so I changed the batteries 3-4 times using used batteries from toys and other things. No improvement. Yesterday I bought new batteries and installed them this morning. I immediately felt something in my hand and it developed into a chest pain. I have to say that I can sometimes feel the wifi so i'm an electro sensitive person. But never I felt such a chest pain with bluetooth. I turn it off and the pain vanish one hour after. My guess is that they boosted or changed the frequency used and it affected the track pad and me. I called Apple to warn them immediately, so If anybody has a hart condition, be aware. I unfortunately have to stop using the trackpad and Bluetooth. It's a shame cause I loved it.

It would make sense that the wifi is involved cause I can usually feel the wifi and had to stop using my trackpad.

So I guess you're right.

This is completely ridiculous that you have to turn off handoff and other things to use Apple's own bluetooth keyboard. sheesh! you'd think that paying the Apple Tax you could at least get some service for it. In any case, thanks for your help with a somewhat okay workaround for now. I'm not sure why Apple hasn't fixed this yet since it's been an issue for 6 months now.

Just adding my little 2 cents worth in case anyone from Apple is reading.

I have a 15" retina MBP late 2013 and have been having these problems that lots of others are having with bluetooth peripherals. I'm finding that if I connect my Apple Keyboard, magic mouse or HP bluetooth mouse then they constantly keep disconnecting and reconnecting during use. There is also this half second lag between when I tap or move something before it happens on screen.

Since reading through this thread I have disabled handoff and so far (after an hour or so) I have had no problems at all with any of my bluetooth devices (first time in months).
