Bluetooth problem with OSX Yosemite: Magic Mouse and Keyboard

Hello everyone,

I've a problem on my MacBook Pro with Retina Display 13" (late 2013).

I've always used it plugged with an external monitor (I love double screen), magic mouse and bluetooth keyboard. On Mavericks everything was perfect with this setup.

Yesterday I installed OSX Yosemite and I've found a boring problem: my Magic Mouse and my Bluetooth Keyboard have a 0.5 second of latency, lag. This happen when the Macbook is not plugged with battery charger. When he is on charge, the problem don't exist.

I noticed this bug also on the public beta of this summer and submit the feedback.

I hoped that they fixed this before release but the bug is still here.

How can i solve this boring problem?

I also reported this issue again and again during each beta release.

This makes the MacBook basically unusable in battery power for doing any kind of design and coding work.

I don't have any bluetooth addons or third party utilities. I also tried clearing PRAMs, and reinstalling Yosemite, to no avail.

Here are some threads about the issue, which, I'm noticing, is common.

Note that while the issue is kind of tolerable using the mouse, it's tragic with the keyboard.

Does this prevent you from using OS X Yosemite?

The issue makes it very difficult for me to use OS X Yosemite

Hi taris3

distance doesn't make a difference for me but the bluetooth issue disconnected my wifi, I had to switch off my wifi and back on to get a wifi connection again.

I did reset my PRAN memory but this did not resolve the issue. A day later the issue spontaneously resolved itself.

I switched from windows to Apple products 10 years ago but now I am becoming concerned about the reliability of Apple hardware/software. I feel they are chasing after profit more than maintaining quality...... something that would make Steve turn in his grave, hope Tim reads this.... probably not ;-)

Following up on impact of WiFi:

Running iStumbler to monitor my mouse Bluetooth signal strength, I notice significant signal reduction when turning on WiFi, with recovery of strength immediately when WiFi turned off. See attached listing; the two times I turned on WiFi are at 10:02 and 10:09. Mouse response was erratic at lower signal strength.

2.5 GHz band was being used.

same here.. exact same problem... very disappointing and frustrating. i hope apple has a solution ASAP!!!. and im in kenya no support here whatsoever... only sales. after sales you're on your own. its a petty how apple gives out authorised dealers in kenya, and they dont even give the back up. but dont worry im going to put an article in the papers soon....

For me, my bluetooth speakers work fine using this sequence:

  1. turn off wifi
  2. connect bluetooth speaker
  3. wait for it to connect (takes same length of time as for Mavericks)
  4. switch wifi back on
  5. then speaker works fine - very occasionally the music sounds garbled, but mostly okay - and doesn't disconnect when switching wifi back on

if I don't switch off wifi then no matter how close the BT device is to the computer, it doesn't connect

I don't use the magic mouse or bluetooth keyboard so can't speak to the success of this approach for those devices
