My Telus email account not working

After upgrading to Yosemite, one of a few other problems, is that I can't connect to my Telus email account. I re-entered username, and password, I get a message that the password can't be transmitted securely, I go ahead anyways but it still doesn't connect

any ideas?

Hi Bill. My Outgoing Server setup:

Mail > Preferences > Accounts > [select the Telus mail account] > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) > Edit SMTP server list > [select the Telus mail server]


Under the Account Information tab:

Description: Telus
Server name: smtp.telus.net
TLS Certificate: None


Under the Advanced tab:

[un-checked] Automatically detect and maintain account settings
Port: 1025

[un-checked] Use SSL

Authentication: Password
User name: [my Telus account]
Password: [my Telus email password]


I think this only works when I'm actually connected to the Telus network. If I'm somewhere else, I usually have to connect to my work email SMTP server.

Hi Geoff;


Thanks for the additional information. I spent the better part of the afternoon with Telus and then Apple tech support. Apple finally got it working and the fix has survived one reboot. Similar to your procedure but also added the path to SMTP. Apple provided this link "in case the problem came back."

Also in Vancouver and on Telus ... THIS WORKS!! Also after spending an hour with Telus tiers 1 and 2 as well as taking to Apple and visiting in person - GEOFF is the one that end up fixing the actual issue with CLEAR on CONCISE visuals... Much thanks Geoff... you have saved me a lot of ongoing frustrating and more gray hair LOL
