Yosemite Mail still has sync problems with Gmail - any solutions?

I notice that Yosemite Mail still has sync problems with Gmail. After running for some hours, I noticed there were 6 emails in my Gmail account that had not synced over the past hour.

In the meanwhile, for safety's sake (don't want to miss emails!) I'm back to Mailplane. But I wonder if anybody knows of a solution to this long term problem first introduced in Mavericks. Works fine in iOS Mail though.

Thanks,

doug

Doug,

I would also like to add my voice so that you don't feel too much like you are alone. On and off, I have had Mail/Gmail sync issues, first with Mavericks and now with Yosemite. I also see it as a very sporadic thing. In Mavericks, if I simply bounced Mail that was sufficient but that does not see to be the case with Yosemite. Right now, there are 7 messages on Gmail that Mail refuses to see. I have forced a sync, bounced Mail, and nothing. And taking the account offline then online again also does not help.

I do see this in the Console log when I try and sync, and am wondering if you do as well:

Dec 22 08:24:10 Elessar.local Mail[32542]: Stream 0x618000300a20 is sending an event before being opened

ETA: I have also just rebooted the entire machine and Mail is still ignoring the messages.

Just wanted to communicate that I have the same problems, so hopefully Apple will start to care at one point if enough people bring it up. There's several tech websites addressing this (and other) problems with mail, and I've tried some of the suggested solutions like deleting the accounts and adding them again, which made it work for 2 weeks, but now it stopped working again.

I'll check out some of the alternatives you suggested.

I had a wierd experience yesterday..

I sent two independent e-mail's with apple mail (Gmail account)

Half the message was visible and the rest was blocks and rubbish unreadable type code...

When I checked the e-mails in gmail directly in my browser they were fine... And based on the replies I got... My e-mail was fine...

However in apple-mail and in my record in sent mail... It still looks like gibberish....

I really panicked initially... Because it was a long winded e-mail, that I spent writting for a significant amount of time...

Had it not gone through, and had I not had access directly through g-mail... I would have been extremely frustrated having to re-write that email.

Any similar experiences anyone?

I followed this and gmail loaded into Mail (apple mail I guess).

Basically, had to open the client (MAC mail) then go into gmail and unselect SHOW IN IMAP under the LABEL tab.

Save the new settings, then go back to Mac mail and close.

Go to System Preferences and delete GMAIL account.

GO back to GMAIL and add SHOW IN IMAP (what you unchecked before)

Reopen client mail and add gmail back.

Mail Inbox was repopulated quickly.
