Internet Sharing not working

Hello,

I used to plug my iphone to my macbook via usb, so I can share my iphone's internet connection using the wifi from Macbook to my ipad and playstation...

The problem is that since I've upgraded my Macbook to Yosemite, it has stopped working.

I already tried to reset all the settings, and rebooting several times and it still does not work.

Sharing the connection via Bluetooth still works tough...

I did an update installation of Yosemite.

My Specs:

Macbook Unibody late 2009

2,26Ghz Intel core 2 Duo

ram: 4Gb 1067Mhz DDR3

HDD: 240Gb Crucial SSD

Graphics: NVIDIA Geforce 9400m 256MB

Thank You for your help 😉

Somehow, a password for the internet sharing can be lost during the Yosemite upgrade.

System Preference -> Sharing

Click "Wi-Fi Options..."

In a new window, make sure that a Security is chosen and a password is typed

Click "OK" to close the window

Turn on "Internet Sharing"

OS10.10 is now like Win95. Apple, please go back to 10.6.

Same bug here on a early 2015 MacBook Pro 13... Able to create an Hotspot with Bluetooth tether, but the hotspot won't initialize if the tether comes from iPhone thru USB...

This is what is printed in the console : configd[51]: preference: no external service id).

😟

Let's keep in touch... I wonder if it'll be fixed in the next version El Capitan.

Is there a way to downgrade to Maverick only the files related to this feature ?

Just wanted to confirm that I have tried this in El Capitan, and it worked successfully for me.

I was able to enable hotspot on my iPhone 6s, connected to MacBook Pro (pre-retina) via USB, using "iPhone USB" as my Macbook's connection.

I was then able to switch on internet sharing, sharing iPhone USB to WiFi.

It switched on fine, the icons changed.

I then connected my iPad to my MacBook's wifi network and it was indeed using my iPhone data connection.

It finally works again! 🙂
