Boot Camp won't start after OSX Yosemite upgrade

Like so many others, I installed OSX Yosemite this morning and now Boot Camp no longer works.

After I updated to Yosemite I restarted my computer, held down alt, and was presented nothing but a Macintosh HD. I followed “Loner T’s” instructions…

ndiskutil list

diskutil cs list

sudo gpt -vv -r show /dev/disk0

sudo fdisk /dev/disk0

Enter you password when prompted.

…and now a windows option is available during startup. However, when selected, all I get is a black screen with "A disk read error occurred" notice.

I’m in serious trouble if I cannot repair this issue. PLEASE HELP.

This entire experience has been horrible. I must say this is the only issue I've ever had with an Apple produce, but it hasn't changed my love of their products. I worked on it this issue for days, followed all of the directions, all of the recommendations of of Loner T and some others. In the end, I went to Best Buy and picked up an external harddrive. I then used TestDisk to search the Windows partition and copy all of my recoverable files to the Mac side. I then made a time machine backup to my new external drive. When I get home today I'll be formatting the entire drive and starting from scratch.

I don't mean to jack this thread, but this bug has got me in a tough bind because of the contents of my Win7 partition. I started a new thread and I'd love some guidance from anyone who's solved this problem before. Another Win7 Bootcamp failure with Yosemite upgrade (missing 34 GB)

Many thanks for spending so much time and patience helping people out. Hopefully Apple will catch on quickly and clean this up.

I worked in this issue for days. In the end I salvaged my Mac and Windows files and started from scratch.

Here is what I did…

1. I went to Best Buy and picked up an external hard drive.

2. I used a program called TestDisk to search the Windows partition for any my Windows files.

3. I copied all of my retrievable Windows files to the Mac partition using the TestDisk options.

4. Using my new external drive, I made a Time Machine backup of my Mac.

5. I then formatted my Mac and accomplished a fresh install of OS 10.10.

6. I installed Windows 7 using Boot Camp.
