Shared mac showing up several times
My media mac is showing several times in my other mac and iphone (remote) withe different numbers. Why?

I have the same problem with my MacBook Pro.
I've set the machine name to "wotex", soon it's "wotex (2)", then "wotex (3)" and so on. On my MacMini when I browse all the network I see all "instances" reported.
So far "renaming" the machine does not help, as it starts all over again the (2) and (3).... really annoying.

FWIW, the new OS X 10.10.1 update seems to be promising. I've updated my laptop and a few of the computers i routinely access and so far BTMM seems to be working and the multiple computer listings have gone away. Obviously more testing is required before i can be sure though

Rebooting my AirPort Extreme cleared it.
Same problem here.
Yosemite 10.10.1
Rebooting Airport cleared all the shared mac, but the one still visible has a suffix number that let me think the problem is not solved yet
This fixed my (extremely annoying) issue.
Yeah, i spoke too soon. The problem isn't nearly as bad as it was before, but one computer on my network INSISTS on having the (2) appended to it. It's really flaring up the OCD...
