Will Final Cut Pro X work with Yosemite?
MacBook Pro
Yes.
It's working fine here with no issues.
More importantly, there are many experienced users who have been using FCP X extensively on the Yosemite.beta.
Do a search and you'll find many threads in this subject .

DDid you buy it fron Apple with the software pre-installed? When you first go to the App Store and entire your Apple ID, all the pre-installed software becomes initialized for the Apple ID.
i bought the mac and it was already installed
JIf you bought the computer from a third party, you'll have to buy your own copy of the software.
I have two macs, and in one with retina display the FCP 10.1.3 is installed. In the other one. it is 10.1
No matter what I do, there is no option to update as other software has done. I am very worried as internet here is very slow, so donwloading it again takes more than 8 hours... so my work can not be handed in tomorrow.
How come Apple has ignored such an issue? I see that it works in my new machine as it updated FCP, but why did it not update it in my other machine? I obviously use the same apple ID.
Please let me know what to do. Right now I have put the old one in the trash and am going through the long waiting to download it again... or did I miss something?
I am posting my own reply...
Trashing the application I had and reinstalling / downloading it has worked. The program started without any problem.. I still wonder why I could not update it from the Store. Any clues?
'Will work' as well as it did with Mavericks ?
TThe current version works better. Some plugins may not. Problems have been reported with Red Giant and I think some FxFactory plugins.
While I updated by Macbook Pro to Yosemite and works fine, I don't have a lot of plug-ins installed. I have not upgraded by main editing machine (iMac) as I am working on a major project. Never upgrade if you care doing a project or several. After done, then upgrade. While FCPX should work fine it is the whole lot of plug-ins I use that I worry more about. I did check and most of Red Giant plug-ins are OK. But I have many, many others that I'm not sure of yet.

same here, i upgraded and now my final cut pro x doesn't work. whats the deal, i spent $300 on this. surely they don't expect us to pay again. I'm pretty ticked off about this.
nope... mines toast, no updates available....
Does the application appear in the Purchases page of the App Store? Are you signed in with the application that was used to purchase the app?
I agree. Final Cut Pro X is not a .99cent app. Apple should have made the FCPX update to Yosemite available in the "Updates" list automatically like they did with my Keynote, Numbers, and other apps. If Apple was on their game they would take better care of customers with higher end apps and not make updating the FCPX app be confusing and force us to get help from other customers.
I Don't understand what you mean. There is no FCPX update for Yosemite. The application was uodated a couple of months ago and is not related to Yosemite at all. The update appears in the App Store if you are logged in with the purchasing Apple ID.
Tom is correct. The latest version of FCPX is 10.1.3. This version will run with Yosemite. If you have problems running FXPC, you may need to delete the application and then re-load it from your purchased section in the Apple Store - after, of course, you have already downloaded Yosemite.
I understand he means that there should be no problems when using it under Yosemite, updated or not. I could not get it to work but it was simply because it did not detected the newer update to 10.1.3 (?). Even when I went into "Purchased" or whatever I did, it said it was up-to-date... and I knew it was not as I had a newer version from a couple of months ago in my retina MBPro. So I had to read what was being posted. What worked for me? Deleting the one I had and reinstalling it (which takes a looong time to download). I now have the latest version which could have been downloaded before Yosemite and therefore could have worked without any problems had it detected it. I still do not understand why it did not say that I needed an update in one machine but yes in another, both using the same Apple ID.
