Tom, to help you understand what I meant, after updating to Yosemite the FCPX update does not automatically appear in the "Updates" list in the App Store like it did with my Aperture app and others (e.g. Keynote, etc.). When someone goes to open FCPX after updating to Yosemite, the pop-up box just says that you have an older version and can't open FCPX. Based on other forum comments I'm not the only one who had this problem. Thanks to Mas_Ter_Piece and others' advice to delete the FCPX app and then go to "Updates" I'm now up to date and it works. Thanks! I'm rather sure I was logged in to the App Store to no avail before, but the delete, then going back in to the store idea worked. I'll make sure I'm logged in down the road. Thanks again.
after updating to Yosemite the FCPX update does not automatically appear in the "Updates" list in the App Store like it did with my Aperture app and others (e.g. Keynote, etc.).
The reason updates for Aperture and Keynote appeared was because there were new updated versions created specifically for those applications to accommodate Yosemite. Those applications needed to be updated to work properly with Yosemite. FCPX did not. The currently available version works correctly with Yosemite and does not require an updated version to work with the new OS, therefore there no update appeared when you updated to Yosemite. The updates for FCP are entirely separate from Yosemite and are not related to it. I don't know what version you're currently using, but there have been four updates to FCP since this time last year, Dec 19, Jan 16, June 17, and Aug 19. The last update to FCP, the current version which works with Yosemite, was released two months prior to the Yosemite release. If you choose not to update the application when the updates are released the App Store will not continue to nag you to do it.
That was the crux of my problem: For some odd reason (and I'm not the only one with this problem) I was never notified of the latest update for FCPX (and I check updates for apps almost every day). I'm fully aware that Yosemite has nothing to do with the latest FCPX update, but I was never made aware there was an update for FCPX until after updating to Yosemite. Even going into the App Store and FCPX did not indicate any update available. Obviously, you were made aware of the update, but not everyone...again, I'm not the only one who was unaware of the update until after Yosemite came out. Thanks for the help.
Some people don't get the update from the App Store because the aren't signed in with the right Apple ID, others have not got the update because their hardware won't support the update. Some people didn't get the last update message because they were running the public beta of Yosemite. Some didn't get it because the application was hidden on the Purchases page. And probably some people didn't get it because the App Store messed up in some way. I don't know how many people had problems updating, but based on these discussions a relatively small percentage of a very large user base, and unfortunately a shocking number of whom seem to be using old pirated copies of the software.
Yea really. You are getting paid for this and you don't research before you upgrade! How bout like me I have waited and I am still waiting till all the bugs are out and then I will upgrade. Get someone else to guinea pig! Wow!
So if you are running 10.1.3 you are ok? I have a Mid 2011 iMac have you heard of issues?
I installed Yosemite on my Mini (early 2009). 8 GB, 1TB Hybrid drive, Final Cut Pro 10.1.3 is crashing when I import from my Camera Archive. I have the FCP Library and the Archive in the Movies folder on the primary drive for the best speed.
HELP!
Steve
everything that I read so far is that it will not work on the earlier macs. They need to make a patch but even if they do I am not sure you wanna update cuz it may cause graphics card issues or the like anyway.
