I Have tried to install os x yosemite on my iMac, just under half way it now seems stuck and has not moved for about 2 hours?
is anybody else having this problem and how to correct this is my first IMac so simple instruction is needed

I have the same problem. Stuck at the very same point. I'd like to follow your instructions (seems to be helpful), but I don't have a recovery disk. What can I do?
Mine has been stuck for 48 hours. Really frustrating. I going to try some of the suggestions below and hope it helps !
Isn't it pretty clear that there is a problem with Yosemite? It would be nice if Apple would just fix it and then let us know.
I see no mention of updating and/or removing 3rd party drivers and utilities (many of which have not been updated for Yosemite) for a start.
Loads of people have had problems. There is an issue you only have to look here and on other posts / forums.
I tried just forcing a restart on your recommendation and it worked! Glad I didn't have to figure out the recovery disk stuff 😕
