How do I delete podcasts from my playlist in iTunes 12?

I regularly download new podcasts but frequently listen to only the most recent episode of some via a Podcasts playlist I manually maintain. Version 11 made dragging them from the podcasts view no longer possible since it added all the non-downloaded episodes. I have since shifted to dragging them onto my playlist from recently added. In the new version, I cannot delete / remove episodes from the playlist. There are podcasts in the list that are not downloaded and they cannot be removed or moved on the playlist. Why can't I delete the podcast titles I don't want from my playlist? And why does listening to podcasts get substantially harder to do with every version of iTunes?

I had the same question, but I figured it out. Along the bottom of the window, there's a drop box labeled "Show:" Click on this and select "Unplayed/My episodes and saved."

This way, anything you've deleted or haven't downloaded will go away. I don't think it's a perfect solution, but I'm sufficiently mollified for the time being.

I really hate the creep of cloud information into every facet of our digital lives, though. Why would I need a list of every episode of every podcast I listen to?

So the way I solved my problem was using the search bar. Mine was a ghost music podcast. I searched it up, used the 3 dot button next to the name and clicked delete and surprisingly it worked. Quite idiotic that apple prefers to make an interface compatible with the next iphone rather than fix the current ghost podcast bugs and whatnot.

I found that I FIRST has to unsubscribe, as shown here.

then I got the delete menu (via a right lick on the podcast in the list)

Ok here’s the best way go to edit another page comes up “shows” click on box and then go back to edit you can now delete episodes or subscriptions hope this helps took me an hour to work out
