RocketRAID 2314 w/ Yosemite?

Seems like Yosemite does not have driver for this card. HighPoint site is awful for communicating with them. Anyone have a 2314 working with Yosemite, and/or know if HighPoint will release an updated driver?

This is great. I still have the highpoint rocketraid 3530 and those same kexts from 10.8.3 still get it to work in Sierra 10.12.6. I don't need anything faster since my hackintosh is being used as a media/storage server so even sataII speed is overkill for what I am using, but i just have a bunch of 3TB platters hooked up anyway so I needed something with a bunch of sata connectors which is what I get with the 3530 after adding a few SFF-8087 cables for a total of 12 sata cables.

HighPoint response:

This card is not compatible with OS X 10.10x (drivers are not available).

We would recommend the RocketRAID 644L in this case - it is supported by

Yosemite and is capable of recognizing arrays created with older cards

(including the 2314 model):

The RocketStor 6328 can also support arrays created with older cards, and is

another option (if you are moving to a system with Thunderbolt support).

I had a feeling they would reply like that. Lost half my drives last night same as all of you. Ordered a 644L with overnight shipping last night, should have it Tuesday.. About had a stroke when the machine rebooted after upgrade.. Would have been nice if there was some compatibility check run with the upgrader that would warn you that certain hardware won't work after the upgrade. Really was taken buy surprise with this, as apparently all of you were as well!

Well this is frustrating as ****. Got my Rocketraid 644L today and not having much luck with it.

First, it only sees 3 out of 8 drives in my external multiplex enclose. Secondly, the webUI doesn't work. I downloaded the WebGUI for 10.10 at http://www.hptmac.com/productfiles/bios_driver/WebGUI_Mac_v2.6.2_14_09_25.dmg

When I open the UI, I just get this error.

"The connection between WebGUI and RocketRAID HBA has been interruptted, WebGUI will try to reconnect RocketRAID HBA in 0 second(s). "

And finally, hot swapping the drives doesn't work at all. Really annoying, might have to do a time machine restore to Mavericks, this is a joke.

So what is odd, is that I don't even see the card listed properly in System Information under PCI. It's the card in Slot 3, but it doesn't list it as a RAID controller as is should and the Identifier is wrong, not sure how that is even possible.

Secondly, none of the extensions are loaded for it. Yet somehow some of the drives in my enclosure work. 3 of 5 drives in an 8 drive bay array load. I have a support issue started with High Point, hopefully I hear back. About ready to do a time machine restore.

Ok thanks for the info.

Highpoint wrote me back, but nothing helpful.

Dear customer did you un-install the previous webGUI?

If not please try the following

1) Un-install the webGUI. The readme.txt has instructions on how to uninstall the webGUI.

2) Reboot the system

3) Then re-install the webGUI.

I've done this at least 4 times, regardless, it should work fine without the webgui. The drivers are completely separate. Right now doing a time machine restore to Mavericks, I give up.. I've tried using the installer referenced in this other thread Re: External G Technology RAID Drive not mounting?, But that driver won't load either, it does put it in the extensions folder, a v2.x driver, but doesn't work for either card. Your 4.0 driver might work per another thread, I'll make a copy of it after restore.

After it's working again, going to see if I can get my 644L working, then try upgrading or installing Yosemite clean to a new drive.

Yosemite shows the 2314 same as you, as a SCSI card. The 644L however, supposedly shows as a RAID card. Should be indentified at pci1103.644 according to this doc.

It won't let me link the PDF, so it's the mac user guide on that page.

Time machine is so awesome.. Back to normal now in Mavericks with the 2314. Device info is the same as yours. Tomorrow I'll try the 644L and see how it works and backup the 10.9 drivers the 4.0. ones. Then maybe upgrade to Yosemite again and see how that goes, maybe try the 4.0 drivers if it doesn't work right away. Took like four hours to restore my time machine backup, so not tonight. But at least I have all my data again! Let me know how it goes for you.

Well, no luck in Mavericks with the 644L. Exact same issue as Yosemite. Does not show the PCI id it should per the HightPoint documentation, nor do the drivers load. Management UI doesn't work and only three drives are shown. I also noticed after reading this link, there was no driver for the 644, just the two shown for the 2314.

Not sure if they are needed anymore, loaded the driver package at http://www.hptmac.com/product.php?_index=87&viewtype=download

It installed a rr64xl.kext driver, but it didn't work either.

This is what Mavericks shows for the 1) PCI card 2) Maverick drivers 3) Driver from install link on HPT Mac site.

I put the 2314 back in and everything is back to working.

Let me know if you get it working.

Well apparently they are both "lite" versions, as there is a RocketRaid 644 as well.

http://www.amazon.com/HighPoint-RocketRAID-644-PCI-Express-Controller/dp/B00399H HSM/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1414005363&sr=8-5&keywords=rocketraid+644l

But ya, I ordered the Rocket 644L vs the RocketRAID 644L. Both have the same picture on Amazon of the card. But the extra pictures show the box as saying RocketRAID 644L vs Rocket 644L. The card has the both names on it, so took me a bit to figure out what I did. So should be fine once it shows up tomorrow. Wish I knew that before spending 10 hours pulling my hair out and rolling back my machine. LOL..

But as long as I am back in business tomorrow, all will be good. :-)
