RocketRAID 2314 w/ Yosemite?
Seems like Yosemite does not have driver for this card. HighPoint site is awful for communicating with them. Anyone have a 2314 working with Yosemite, and/or know if HighPoint will release an updated driver?

Didn't work. I give up. Guess I'll have to buy the 644L. Don't want to. Maybe if I can figure out how to get "system" permissions added to those kexts through terminal. Really want the 2314 to spring back to life.
Hi Ty
What version of Yosemite are you running?
If when copying the kext files into the extensions folder is removing the system permissions try compressing/archiving them together before moving then unarchive into the correct folder? This may preserve the permissions or you could try the copy using terminal with the ditto command that should preserve all permissions relating to the file.
I believe the reason for all these issues is that apple have now required all kexts to be pressing by apple for the operating system this is a new procedure for Yosemite and if you look up Yosemite trim issues you can find a lot of info regarding booting from third party SSD's.
There are work arounds for the trim issue but they may work for this issue too. essentially via terminal you need to turn off kext signing to allow kexts from any supplier. i will try and dig up the exact terminal commands but i think this could help.
Unfortunately as i have a working machine with 10.10 at the moment I'm not too eager to mess around with upgrades and kext files just incase i loose access to my external drive again.
Let me know how you get on!
here is a download to my kext files that worked for me.
Please ensure you purchased the RocketRAID 644L and not the Rocket 644L (same thing happened to me). It took HighPoint's technical support 3 days to figure out this issue. The Rocket is not hot-swappable and will not work with the WebUI.
Unfortunately when I searched Amazon for the RocketRAID 644L, the card listed at the top (probably because cheaper) was the Rocket 644L, so I purchased and installed the wrong card. This has been VERY frustrating, to say the least.
Take care and good luck.
Michael
Thanks Bringer. I tried everything using the old drivers and the 2314. I could not get 10.10.1 to recognize my SATA drives. So I went with the path of least resistance and bought the 644L (only the base Raid 0/1 JBOD) model. Installed in and voila, my drives popped up immediately with the Yosemite drivers built in. One thing I did notice though, Yosemite is changing my external drives permissions making them only system or root drives. Removed me as the administrator with read write privileges. Had to go back in and add me with permissions at the top level for the drives. But since I don't use software RAID at all, the lesser model of the 644L seems to be all I need. It was $65 on Amazon. For my RAID stacks I use external hard drive enclosures called CineRaid that have many choices of built in hardware RAID settings on the back of the unit. So no need for the more expensive card. I don't trust software RAID. But thanks for all the posts and passing on the experiences. Hope mine helps.
Just an advice. I have juste bought HighPoint RocketRAID 640L to replacer my rocket raid 2310 (internal sata port). The 640L is not officaly mac compatible but the driver is the same that the 644L (support tell me).
After installation, reboot and… no way to have volume to come back. System whant to format them. Finally I have destroy them and recreate them. Thanks Backup !
Hi Ty
I'm sure this is not that helpful now but i recently had to redo the hack to get my drive to work again and the only way it would preserve the system prefs was by copying direct from a mavericks time machine backup. compressing and copying direct from the os overwrites the system read/write and replaces it with the user.
so it should work if you can copy from a time machine backup.
thanks
Josh
This helped me a lot! I'm using your kext. After repairing permissions in Disk Utility I don't have to load the kext manually anymore.
I'm at 10.10.3 now -not planned but had to-.
Good luck all! And shame on Highpoint
I, too, am having the same problem with this card (Rocketraid 2314).
I have followed Marshall Burchard's link and despite all my efforts, I still get the error message "The connection between WebGUI and RocketRAID HBA has been interrupted ..."
I tried downloading the kext files from the links above but the files no longer exist on the servers. Can anyone PLEASE supply me with these files?
I can't believe that Highpoint has not tried to help its customers. Shame on them! I will NEVER buy another product from them again.
Thanks to all the people who have written about this. I don't dabble much in the hardware area so all comments have been of great help.
using Alien69 kext files :
i've got the 2314 working on macpro 3.1 running 10.10.5
Already had drivers vs 4.3.3 on the system - replaced with the kexts in the link - repaired permissions, rebooted and
sudo -i
sudo kextload /Library/Extensions/HighPointRR.kext
Seems to be working flawless so far ...
THANX!
update : Still works flawlessly and no need to kextload on startup
Just to let everyone know, I used the kexts HighPointIOP.kext and HighPointRR.kext from 10.8.3 for my 10.10.5 hackintosh and I got my Highpoint RocketRaid 3530 to work (sata II raid card). It is a shame that Apple doesn't just throw these kexts in Yosemite. I have not tried this yet with El Capitan, but I am happy with Yosemite for now.
