New iTunes 12, not recognizing device?

I tried this solution, and I get an Error 2- Apple Application Support was not found.

Any other suggestions?

Is this a Windows solution? -> Never seen that "uninstall" interface before.

I've tried all the suggestions but iTunes still won't recognize my iPhone 5. I also have an iTunes icon, then an up arrow and then the cable attach icon on my iPhone screen. Can get rid of it; can't use the phone. I'm lost. I should add that the cord is fine because I tried it on my iPad 4 and iTunes does recognize that just fine.

I tried this....and all the other suggestions. The upgrade recognizes my iPad but not my iPhone 5 and now the phone has an iTunes icon, an up arrow and a cable icon on the face and I cannot get rid of it.....no matter how many times I tried turning off and back on. I'm lost.

Resetting my iPod fixed the problem (toggle the Hold button on and off, then press the Menu and Select (center) buttons together for a few seconds until the Apple appears).

Apple should probably thank you for keeping a few of us around. This WORKED! If it had'nt, I was gonna leave Apple behind and buy a MotoX 2gen tomorrow morning! Apple needs to step up their game and support! This is the 2nd year straight this has happened.

BTW- Running 5S iOS 8.1, iTunes 12.0.1 and Windows 8 PC. Absolutely Nothing worked prior to this and I had uninstalled/reinstalled updated EVERYTHING prior!

WWhat finally worked for me was to update my apple mobile driver.

Carolyn's solution worked for me running iTunes 12.0.1.26 on OS X 10.9.5.

I think Apple is getting worse in rushing their SW releases. I used to love iTunes and will now be looking for a third party solution that is more stable. Too many unnecessary changes, and the latest change in killing the side bar functionality is the pivot point for me. I think Frederighi should be fired. Cue probably needs to go as well.

I appreciate your post, this worked for me, it was another "what happened" from apple, let's see if Apple post a fix? I noticed that other's where not so lucky, hope you can find a way for them also. :-)
