Yosemite made my MacBook Pro so slow. Need help.

I Upgraded my MBP (2012), from Mavericks to Yosemite and it slowed my computer down to the point where it became unusable. I repaired the permissions, and even reinstalled Yosemite but it didn't help. My MBP is crawling and I'm hoping someone can walk me through a solution. Need help.

Guys need your help on this. I purchased MacBook Pro Mid 2014 last week. Most of the things are running okay except downloading files. It is running extremely slow and I don't even know how long it takes to download (more than 2 hours for sure) the file because I don't have patience to wait that long. Its a 300MB file which takes 15 mins to download on windows PC. I was on the phone with Apple support for an hour and tried everything but could not resolve the issue. Did anyone here encounter the same problem? Or have any solution to the problem. Very disappointed with Apple.

Feb 21, 2015 6:54 AM in response to @zzee

It would be best to start your own question instead of piggy-packing on someone else's thread. You have serious problems with whatever mode of internet connection you are using. A 300 MB file should only a take a few seconds, even on Windows. Whatever is making your internet run so slowly must be affecting the Mac even more. It is definitely not a Mac problem.

PLEASE CAN YOU ADVISE:

I have been visiting my Dad and two days later his computer (it seemed after a power cut) now RUNS VERY slow, it is unresponsive when clicking on any application on the menu bar, or even the finder bar, it shows spinning ball. I read your forum and will paste the Etrecheck results here. He has tried the pram thing on startup but still no good. He has iMac 20 inch Mid 2007. Yosemite 10.10.2., 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2Duo, mem 2 Gb 667 Mhz DDR2 Sdram. Startup disk iMac, Graphics ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256mb.

Report from Etrecheck.

Your two biggest problems are CleanMyMac2 along with whatever else it's managed to damage for you and insufficient RAM to support your computing habits.

Use CleanMyMac2 to uninstall itself and never allow another "Cleaner" app near your MBP.

Adding additional RAM will help a bunch, but if for some reason you aren't willing to invest, then you are going to have to Quit apps after you finish with them, not just close all the windows. All those "failed" Launch Agents/Daemons are firm indicators of your computer being RAM starved.

PeerGardian has not been supported for over two years now, so I feel certain it's no longer Yosemite compatible and RoaringApps seems to agree. A quick search seems to indicate that it may be difficult to uninstall. Obviously you have the app in your Download folder and in System Preferences->Users & Groups->Login Items tab remove the two items that start with "pp" by using the minus "-" button.

There are a few more minor problems, but if your problem persist after taking care of these, please start a new discussion outlining your issues in more detail then leave a link here to it.

Hi Everyone~

Wanted to update you and let you know that I took my comp in, and diagnostics showed there to be a faulty logic board (Thank you Apple). I have since ordered a new one and I am sitting here in my living room about to put the new one in however this long wire that was underneath it with 3 veryUser uploaded file minuscule copper pieces popped up and I have no idea what it connects to if anything. I have attached a picture.

Thank you!

Hi just to let you all know that yes, I made the initial mistake to add my question to another's posting, then I immediately saw that I need to start my own, WHICH I DID. I've had nice people answer and give advice. But I've had equally unfriendly email notices saying to start my own Thread. I've only been on here the one time, made a small error, so please know I corrected myself immediately and have been helped. Sorry to make others upset with my small error. Sorry Jennifer level 1.
