Apple will very unlikely issue a patch to yosemite, the reason for why so many drivers are failing is because Apple has raised the security from Relaxed to High in the printer area. From Apples POV this is very likely intentional and gives the users more security, the downside of this is many printer manufacturers have to adapt their drivers.
well you've explained why it now takes 8 - 12 minutes for me to print a lo-res jpeg proof to my Xerox Phaser in this OS and why I have no reason to deploy it to the users I support who would be impacted for the foreseeable future. 2011 was the last time Xerox updated, I don't expect they are champing at the bit to fix it now.
I’ve tried to reinstall Mavericks, but Yosemite won’t let me. How is this helpful???

What kind of printer do you have? How is it failing? Have you looked for similar failures or models here?
Hi send a mail to my private address werner.punz@gmail.com, I know how to relax the CUPS sandbox restrictions. Apple simply has been pulling the info multiple times, so I do not dare to post it anymore.
email sent.
thanks.
Just got an email from Kodak, followed their instructions and printer now works.
Do the following steps to address the issue:
Yipee
I had to go to applications, utility and then terminal....
And it won't allow me to enter in a password.. gah.. I so want my printer back!!
Thank you that worked. I wasn't understanding why the password wasn't working. It took me about three tries to print a page but I finally got my printer to work.
Sorry Girleyzoom
Forgot to mention that your password will not be shown within Terminal

All the best
It worked - thank you SO MUCH!!!!!!!!! 🙂
I constantly have this problem even with several different printers and especially after an Apple upgrade. Here's what generally works. Reboot printer and print as a PDF from Apple Print Preview. Today after two hours of trying to print a document and having no luck, I deleted my Canon MX870 from the list of printers in Settings, downloaded new drivers from the Canon website, rebooted the printer, rebooted the Time Machine and then added new printer in Settings (It took awhile for the Canon settings to show up). Yay, it is now working again. I don't understand why it is so difficult to get printers to play nice with a Mac!
