Apple will very unlikely issue a patch to yosemite, the reason for why so many drivers are failing is because Apple has raised the security from Relaxed to High in the printer area. From Apples POV this is very likely intentional and gives the users more security, the downside of this is many printer manufacturers have to adapt their drivers.

Just got an email from Kodak, followed their instructions and printer now works.

Do the following steps to address the issue:

  1. Go to Launchpad, then enter Terminal and press Enter.
    The terminal window/program opens.
  2. Enter sudo sh -c 'echo "Sandboxing Relaxed" >> /etc/cups/cups-files.conf' in the terminal.
  3. Enter a password when prompted.
  4. Enter sudo launchctl stop org.cups.cupsd
  5. Try to print again.

I constantly have this problem even with several different printers and especially after an Apple upgrade. Here's what generally works. Reboot printer and print as a PDF from Apple Print Preview. Today after two hours of trying to print a document and having no luck, I deleted my Canon MX870 from the list of printers in Settings, downloaded new drivers from the Canon website, rebooted the printer, rebooted the Time Machine and then added new printer in Settings (It took awhile for the Canon settings to show up). Yay, it is now working again. I don't understand why it is so difficult to get printers to play nice with a Mac!
