Text message forwarding - no code on iPad or Mac

Ahh sorry I see that the forums here show you who you were replying to.

None of those steps listed in @jacquelinefromlongbeach's exist on my MBP so not sure where the information is coming from.

So text message forwarding isn't working on either of your OSX devices? Both macbooks and your iPhone are on latest OS?

Try signing out from your account on iMessages on your macbook. Then send a test text from a google voice number or another device. Then sign back in, and try enabling text message forwarding.

After reading all the responses here, I tried a few, and the one that worked best/quickest was turning iMessage on again and off again. My MacBook instantly popped up the messages/guidance I needed to get iMessage connected to my phone again with minimal work (it had been inadvertently disconnected after an iCloud disaster). Thanks, guys!

What worked for me, which I NEVER found on any forum, was to check the SMS box within your messaging settings on your Mac:

Open messenger

Services

Scroll to system preferences

Shortcuts

Services

Text

Check off SMS and BOOM you're connected.

I don't know HOW I finally thought to myself that something must need to be enabled prior to syncing with my phone, but I did. I hope this works and you don't have to reset anything!

This suddenly stopped working on my MBP. I also have a Macbook Air and text message forwarding was still working there. For some reason what I had to do was sign out of iMessages on my MBP then sign back in. A message popped up on my macbook air and my iPhone asking me if I was ok with this new device. I clicked OK on both my macbook Air and my iPhone and then SMS forwarding just started working on my MBP again with no code prompt. Weird.

I'm having the same problem.

On a mid 2010 Mac operating Yosemite OS X & an iPhone 4s updated to iOS 8.1.

Both devices are signed in to the same icloud account.

System log shows:

Even I'm facing the same issue with my mac. Unable to receive any code. 😠

I was having this issue at first but I opened up the iMessage app on my iMac and then turned on text message forwarding in my iPhone. Within a few seconds the code popped up on iMessage on my iMac.

I tried this, but it still does not work for me.
