Text message forwarding - no code on iPad or Mac

I was having this issue at first but I opened up the iMessage app on my iMac and then turned on text message forwarding in my iPhone. Within a few seconds the code popped up on iMessage on my iMac.

I tried this, but it still does not work for me.

Oh also, I had to make sure my phone number was selected as an address I could be reached at in iMessage for Mac. Previously it had not been selected for me.

I've found a solution on another forum and it worked for me:

Try this: Go to your iPhone Messages settings and turn off iMessages and turn it on again. Then go to the iMessages Settings on your Mac and do the same. After that it worked for me. Also make sure to activate your telephone number in the iMessages settings on your Mac.

I am having the same issue between an iPhone 6 and iPad Air, both with iOS 8.1. There is no code appearing on the iPad to enter back on the iPhone.

All of the above solutions I have tried and none of them have worked for me.

However, I did just enable all the emails on my iPhone 6 and my MBPr in iMessage, then switched the slider, and my code appeared. Also my iMessage app on my MBPr was closed and opened itself up. Not saying this will work for you but it is worth a try.

tried switching iMessage ooff and on, but now there is no choice to forward messages

reset iPhone and the option re-appeared. Selected it and the code then appeared on my ipad

I did this, it gave me the 6 digit code on my MBP. Entered into my iPhone 6 and it accepted the code. I'm trying to send a message with the app on my MBP. So far I haven't had any luck having it go through.

You do NOT pair your iPhone to the mac for the continuity features to work. You have never been able to do that. Continuity uses a pair-less system. Both the iPhone and Mac must be on the same WiFi network and Bluetooth must be on (but again, NOT paired).

It says that bluetooth is needed for proximity issues. Maybe having bluetooth turned on on both devices will resolve this issue

I connected my iphone to itunes and it pooped up

• Signed out of Messages.app on mac
• Signed in and checked all available emails + phone number for "receive messages at"
• On my phone, turned off iMessage, turned it back on
• On my phone, selected all available emails + phone number for "receive messages at"
• Tried again, it worked

No idea if the above incantation fixed it, or if it was just a matter of time.
