Text message forwarding - no code on iPad or Mac

Iphone 6s 9.3.1

Macbook pro 2011 OS x El Capitan 10.1.4

I have tried everything that I possibly could, it work for me several times.... but when turning off the mbp it stopped from working once again.

I honestly think it's an Apple server problem.

Let me know if there is some king of update on this.

This worked for me - thank you!! :-) It had been working fine for years until Apple wanted me to update my password. I did, & suddenly it stopped working. I wonder if it also had something to do with the iOS update?

I just downloaded macOS Sierra 10.12 on my iMac and downloaded OS10 on my iPhone 6plus. After turning off imessages on both devices (as directed by jordyg and activating the checkbox on "You can be reached for messages at: on my Account Preferences, I finally saw the code appear!

I tried turning off as is directed in earlier version with El Capitan and it didn't work. The OS Sierra now has a checkbox in Accounts for turning on messages from iPhone number. I didn't see this before in El Capitan. Hope this helps!

Hmm, "SMS" is not part of Text for me. I'm also having this issue as of late on both a 2011 MacBook Pro and 2009 Mac Pro. Same OS. Very annoying...

Sorry I should have said text message forwarding. SMS stands for short message service which is what text messages are.

I definitely know what it is. It's not listed in the place 'jacquelinefromlong beach' describes. This has stumped me.
