Report on the NEW iOS 8.1 Revision Today

I've been waiting for the iOS 8.1 revision today, as it contains some bug fixes and some NEW FEATURES added. It's out now, but I can't get to a WiFi spot just yet, as I'm running around. I'll be getting to it later today.

HOWEVER, please do let us know of some of your problems have been fixed or if there are some problems remaining. I hope this is going to help a lot of people today!

The two new items that I've been waiting for are "iCloud Photo Library" (in beta, though) and "iCloud Drive"!

I updated my iphone 6+ to 8.1 with no issues. Seems to be running great.

My iPad Air had just 2 issues before the update today: Safari issues such as blank pages, video playback issues, long load times no matter wifi or cellular connections. Second was the unable to download item pop up. The Safari issues were cured but the pop up remained with 8.1. I did a clean install by wiping my IPad of all data and installed my save after the update. Pop up gone. iPad running smoother and faster when transitioning between apps, web pages, etc.

i agree with Star Traveler about yearly fresh installs whether problems or not. I did that all the times with my Windows computers at work and it was like getting a new computer with all the junk gone! I plan to do the same with my phones, iPads, etc from now on. Thanks ST!

Not a biggy for iPads. I updated my iPad 3. It runs fine, so that's major accomplishment for an Apple update of late. The one feature I really do like is the Keyboard Dictation, it's fast! It keeps up with my voice, no problem. (Per other posts, you have to turn "dictation" ON in keyboard setting). The iOS keyboard and all the 3rd Party keyboards I've tried still are a major disappointment. The keyboard is the thing I hate the most about iOS. Why can't someone make a keyboard as handy as Google's (sorry, I had to say it)?

so i followed your guys advice before updating to iOs 8.1..i was foolish enough to think a backup would keep the files you have created with each app and not JUST reinstall a new version of the silly apps..so now does my ipad run a tiny bit faster? yes..but after i guess erasing all my garageband sessions, hundred of comic books in my collections and all my personal artwork that i will never get back it's something to be expected isn't it?..and my ipad still runs into a long black screen pause when i'm switching it on which after a whole month of fail after fail is not a good sign that all is going to be smooth for me..my question is can i salvage any of my files from an older backup i kept with a software like 'backup extractor' or should i just accept everything is gone at this point?

thankfully i might have found my solution..(be aware that if you select 'restore ipad' it will automatically install a clean version of iOs 8.1 AND ask you to make a backup of your device that it will install back to your device but it WON'T be a full back up(only the list of apps) so don't be fooled and do not accept it but rather do the full back-up manually before the process..thankfully I've kept a different backup elsewhere before starting the process that I've now was able to add back to my backup folder and will try to reinstall this fuller backup instead)
