iOS 8.1 LTE / 3G / 2G toggle

Same in Italy: TIM, Vodafone and 3 H3G no toggle.

Only WIND Italy that is unofficial Apple carrier has the toggle.

I asked on Twitter at their verified account btput they didn't know what I was talking about 😐

Im from Sri Lanka and i too have the same problem where i dont have the option to select the network type. Im using a 4G compatible SIM from Dialog Axiata, but havent activated the 4G connection for my sim. It means normally i can only use 2G/3G or both. but if the case is not to have a 4G enabled sim then i should get this option. i have an iPhone 5S

Here's what i have done; firstly i update to ios 8.1 from ios 8.0.2 OTA. - NO OPTION TO CHANGE 2G/3G

secondly did a full reset through the iphone - NO OPTION TO CHANGE 2G/3G

thirdly downloaded the 8.1 ipsw and did a clean restore through itunes - NO OPTION TO CHANGE 2G/3G

So I really like to know whats up with that. 😟😟

I'm on O2 also with the same problem, I need 2G in my house where I get 4 Bars, but only 1 Bar with 3G and dropped calls all the time.

Now I updated my 5 and 6 to 8.1, the 5 now has the options to toggle 2G,3G,4G, but the 6 is exactly as it was before.

When I read the O2 stuff on their web site about the 6, it only mentions 4G, so maybe they do not want anyone with new phones on the 2G.

I had an iPhone 5 and this option was available after iOS 8.1 .After upgrading to iphone 6 plus the same option does not appear. I think there is either no carrier update or apple has not enabled this for the new iPhones. Luckily the battery for the iphone 6 plus is so good that I am not missing this . However on the iphone 5 , my battery used to die out before the end of the day if I was on 3 G.

Did you do as I suggested and reboot your phone?

IPhone 5s and ipad mini 2 both iOS 8.1.

No Voice & Data section and no 2g / 3g / lte selector

tried 2 sims from diffirent carriers ( megafon and mts)

Are you talking about in settigs>general>about and where it says modem firmware?

Looks like that switch 100% appear on early devices (iphone 5 and older) and 50-50 with iphone 5s/6/6+. Maybe it depends on the processor or coprocessor presents...

even i am getting the option to switch between 2G/3G/LTE when i use vodafone simcard in my iphone 5s but when i insert Airtel there is no option for it.

Check your APN settings because if they are still pointed to AT&T your mobile data will not work until switched to new carrier

Im having the same problem. I figured it was an issue from upgrading OTA from a beta version. I've tried everything including restarting and resetting my network settings.

I just updated my iPhone 5S and I'm in T-Mobile here in the US. In the change log for iOS 8.1 they said it will enable you to change from 2G to 3G to LTE. For me since I'm getting a wide coverage in T-Mobile's LTE network but I'm so curious that why Apple wouldn't put the toggle under setting>>cellular.
