iOS 8.1 LTE / 3G / 2G toggle
I updated my iPhone 5s to iOS 8.1 but the toggle to switch between LTE , 3G and 2G not exist and is described on the update list ?
I updated my iPhone via OTA if that the reason ?
Thanks

Its problem with Airtel, switch your sim to vodafone or other network which doesn't have LTE and you will have the toggles as soon as sim card is recognized. U needn't reset anything.
I to have same problem with Airtel in Bangalore.
The only solution is to swap to a older 2g sim.
It is looking like Apple has stopped supporting that option. You can turn cellular on or off but you can't drop down to slower networks.
Try restoring you iPhone using iTunes. First back up your device to either iCloud or your computer.
Here's the tutorial that shows how to deal with the switches:
If you go to Setting then cellular you can then disable or enable LTE, and when you disable LTE it will go to 3G.
i strongly feel its not the sim issue since i am a frequent traveller around the globe and use different country sim cards on my iPhone. Recently i have used a ** sim on my iPhone and noticed that i had the option only to enable LTE and not 3G. On the same phone if i use the airtel sim i get the option for 3G and not LTE. Kindly not in both cases the phone/network/os is the same. The same airtel sim on iOS 8.1 is showing LTE but on iOS 7.1.2 is showing 3G. So i am sure tis not the issue of the sim. I personally feel the issue is with the carrier update, on the iOS 7.1.2 the carrier shows AirTel 17.0 but on iOS 8.1 it shows AirTel 18.0. If there is any possibility for getting 17.0 on 8.1 this should solve the problem or apple should come up with a 18.1 or something.
There is a chance that Airtel did not enable this option for iPhone 5S and above in their carrier update. That's because the LTE band (frequency) which they use is only supported by iPhone 5S and above but not by iPhone 5.
I wouldn't rule out a possibility of a mess up at Apple's end though.
Thanks,
Rajeev.
The feature is completely controlled by network. If the network allows the user can control that option . I have read an article about this in http://tinyurl.com/pvmthdo
I Have iphone 5 and 5S. While I upgraded to iOS 8.1 on both devices, the iPhone 5 have the option of "Voice&Data" to chose either 2G/3G/LTE whereas the iPhone 5S donot have except to switch on/off LTE. On both the phones I have Airtel SIM and based in Hyderabad. this is crazy
I still don't see it.
When I went to Settings>>General>>About, it prompted me saying new carrior settings are available. So I updated and it's updated to 18.1. Keep in mind I have an iPhone 5S with T-Mobile. After that I went to Settings>>Cellular, I don't see a toggle to switch from 2G to 3G to LTE. I'm in the US.
I have a 5 & 6 iPhone both with the same carrier, on the 8.1 update the 5 now has the ability to have 3G Off, the 6 is still the same with no option.
This makes me believe its down to the phone model 5 and back the toggle will now be available and 5S up not available.
The One and Only Solution For This.Install the following patch on your iPhone.(Patch is NOT HARMFUL and NO JAILBREAK required)
Installation Steps
1.Open the link using Safari browser and install.
2.App will be displayed in home screen(Name:GPP3to2)
3.Open the application and click patch
4.You can now browse with edge network
If you do need 3G then dispatch it.Enjoy😝😝

These patches are harmless and can be installed(Tested IOS 8.1.1) It Works..😎😎
➕➕Like if it works and let people know about it
Shout wherever possible
then Apple will see it and listen
call to Apple support
leave application to the absence of the stated functions.
Tested on iPhone 5:
T-Mobile Poland = no 2G toggle
Orange Poland = no 2G toggle
Play = no 2G toggle
Plus = 2G toggle works fine
Apple please fix this !
That's true.
I've tried the same SIM on Blackberry q10, nexus 5, nokia e71 - all these devices have ability to choose 2g-3g-4g (except nokia - there is only 2g-3g) and only iphone5s has trouble with some mythical carrier update.
Maybe Apple means that if you have non-4G sim, then you are now able to select 2G/3G
But if you have 4G sim, then 4G/3G selection is available only.
If it's true, I'm dissapointed. I personally do need 2G/3G/4G selection option!!!
