Amazon.com Rewards card (Visa issued by Chase) not supported by Apple Pay?

Is it just me or is this working as intended?

I just sent this to the ceo, jeff bezos:

Jeff,

Hi!

I have loved amazon from the day I bought my first book over 10 years ago. I currently own the amazon rewards credit card, and it I am thrilled that it is my main credit card.

I am quite disappointed that this credit card is not usable with the Apple Pay. There seems to be lots of confusion between Amazon and Chase about where the decision comes from, and this only adds to the frustration.

I ask you to glance at this one thread of loyal Amazon customers (several call themselves "Amazon fanatics") to see the consternation regarding this issue:

I would love a reply if possible. Thanks so much.

Regarding Synchrony Bank, you are referring to the Amazon Store Card. The thread is actually about the Chase Amazon Visa rewards card. They are 2 separate cards, the Synchrony one being a card you can only use at Amazon.com. Think of it as a department store credit card that's not a Visa / MasterCard / American Express card.

Yeah, here's the response to me from Chase:

Dear Jack,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us again

regarding apple pay being available.

I would like to inform you that I am unable to confirm

when apple pay will be available for your mastercard.

However, I forwarded your comments to our Internet Group

for review.

My response from Amazon. Awaiting a response from Chase.

Yeah, another Amazon fan having the same issue. Now looking for a new card to be my Apple Pay card.

So far, the Citi Double Cash card ( https://www.citi.com/credit-cards/credit-card-details/detail.do?ID=citi-double-c ash-credit-card ) is looking good. As I always pay off my balance every month, this essentially gives you 2% cash back on every purchase. So, for making purchases outside of Amazon.com (basically everywhere I'd want to use Apple Pay) this card would actually give me more points I can use at Amazon.com than the Amazon Visa card would.

I'd probably still use the Amazon Visa when purchasing from Amazon.com directly to get the 3% rewards, but for everything else, I'd get more points using the Citi Double Cash card. So, even if Amazon decides to allow Apple Pay, the Citi card still would be a better deal, right?

I just did this same exact thing. Since we only get 2% on gas, grocery and restaurants with the Amazon visa and 1% on everything else, this makes more sense, especially for those that pay off the card every month. 2% on everything, and 3% on all amazon purchases. I'll take it!
