FaceTime making strange clicking sound since OS X 10.10

my girlfriend has the iphone 7 with verizon and i have the iphone 7 plus with tmobile and it only makes the weird noise when she tries to face time me but when i facetime her it sounds clear with no pops or clicking noises so i assume its the service provider

YOU HAVE TO FIX THIS. I almost thought of having the “I am leaving you” conversation with my girlfriend thinking she was getting pounded by someone else while we were on FaceTime. WHY IS THIS ISSUE A THING!!!

Hi, it seems the same issue. However I have such annoying loud noise while facetime is calling that is barely confusing me. And it continues after the number is called and person picked up the phone.

Similar issue here. It's almost like a random popping noise - like a when a speaker is connected poorly and experiences pops or "clicks". Like what you would expect from a loose wire or something....

I can hear the person on the line fine (except the clicking noises), and they can hear me. Made two attempts at the same FaceTime call (video), first one we both could hear the clicks, second call they could not but I certainly could.

For reference, I have a Late 2011 Macbook Pro 13". 4GB RAM, 750 GB HD. Running latest OS (Yosemite). Absolutely zero hardware modifications.

Hopefully this gets addressed in an update soon....

Tried everything and nothing seems to fix this!

I'm having this issue as well. Early 2011 13" MBP. For me, I've found that the issue occurs after removing headphones. Restarts don't seem to fix it. For now, I've found that resetting the core audio daemon fixes the problem. To do this, first close FaceTime, then open terminal and enter:

sudo killall coreaudiod

Enter your password (it won't show up) and hit enter. Then wait a minute. Sometimes it takes a few attempts but it has been fixing it for me. However, once I use headphones with FaceTime and then remove them again, the audio screws up again (requiring me to run this code - I just made an AppleScript for it actually).

I just talked to the live chat support, brought this to their attention. As I was told they are going check this out and fix that as soon as possible

same issue! I noticed it with the new OS.

I have the same! I did a clean install because I had a huge echo (Intense FaceTime feedback after upgrade to 10.9) but now I feel like the speaker are just popping very loudly. While the other person can hear me, I can't hear them. Well at least the echo is gone 😉

Well, I just solved it... by rebooting. Afte rthe reboot everything worked fine, no echo, no strange plopping.

Thanks for the workaround. My Early 2011 MBP is doing the same noise, glad to know other people are also experiencing it. Let's hope it will get fixed someday.

i have the same issue. Doesn't do it when i use headphones. I am running an late 2011 - 13" MBP with 8gb ram, 750gb hdd, and OS X 10.10.

Exact same problem. Let's patch this Apple! Don't make me use Skype...
