iOS 8.1 Update the red 1 badge stuck on setting app

No not the settings icon. Im talking about the App store app. I know it sounds crazy but it worked.

Sorry Brother! Computers, smartphones etc have their own lives and I never quite understand it.

Just updated to 8.1 and joined the bug.

Have anyone solved it yet ??

Updated 4 devices today. iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad 2, 3rd Gen iPad.

All were flawless, except for the 3rd Gen iPad. The iPad 2 never had the "1" in the settings badge, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus did and it disappeared after the update as one would expect. The 3rd Gen iPad had the badge notification and it stuck as you all are experiencing.

I've disabled and re-enabled Notifications, power cycled, and a few other tries to no avail.

Have not yet tried to Reset All Settings or connect to iTunes with a cable But it sounds like others here have already attempted to restore from backup unsuccessfully.

Add me me to the club and keep us posted. If I find a way to clear it, I will post.

Hoping it will just reconcile itself after a short amount or reasonable amount of time. I am Type A, a little OCD too, so I feel everyone's pain.

Pain no more: I've solved the problem! But it was the hard way.

So, I've reseted all settings to factory settings and set up the iPhone as a new device through the iTunes. The device ressurrects with iOs 8.1 but without the annoying badge. Then, don't make a backup through iTunes, because the backup carries on the glitch. I've, patiently, downloaded one-by-one, all my apps, wich actually becamd something good as I didn't make any 'cleaning' in my apps since I had an iPhone 4…

As I mostly use apps that synchronize through iCloud between different devices, or apps that have an email backup option, I didn't lose any of my information.

Save a couple of hours to do this, and you're free to go!

You must have really hated that badge. I think I'll just write a feedback bug, https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html and wait for the next update. In the meanehile I took Settings off the front page, so at least I won't see it all the time.

Yes, I have it, too, but not quite annoyed enough to jump through so many hoops to fix. Hoping for a simpler solution!

Same here, no solution other then a fresh iphone and manually download alll apps and settings. takes hours. Not allot of hope they will solve this in updates I believe. Crushes the Apple experience for me!

Your suggestion solved my stuck-number-1 badge issue.

I was about to join the "Stuck-on Number 1 Club", when following your solution made the badge alert go away.

I deleted my latest app update done which caused the number 1 badge to be stuck on App Store, and the number 1 was immediately gone!

Try a Reboot press & hold power button & menu button hold both down until you see Apple Logo you will not lose any data. You may need to do this more than once. B sydd

I have same issue. I think my problem came from iTunes app sync.

Since iOS 8.1, everytime I update apps on iTunes and sync them to iOS device, always leave red badge numbers on App Store icon.

When new app update comes and if I update it only on iOS device (not using iTune), old red badge numbers on App Store disappear from my iPhone and iPad...

You guys realize this thread is referencing the SETTINGS badge and not the APP STORE badge, right?

Having the same issue too. Tried DFU restore and then restore from backup. After a DFU reset the badge icon is no longer there however, once i restore from a backup it comes back again. ******* me off more than it should. Its like a thorn in my side. Contemplating starting from scratch like Styllah. But am trying to explore whether there is any fix to this issue before i embark on a few hours of configuration. Hope you guys can keep us posted.
