Did ios 8.1 fix wifi problems on iphone 6?

For all the people who have been experiencing wifi problems on iphone 6 (like me), have you noticed improvement with 8.1? I'm afraid to download it myself at this time.

iPhone 6, iOS 8

IOS 8.1 won't help.

In my experience, the wifi problem may be related to compatibility of the router chipsets.

I own Asus (N56U) & Totolink routers, no problem and wifi speed is blazing fast.

When connecting to a TP-LINK router (841ND) , wifi status was connected but cannot pass through any data.

Some of my friend's iphone6 had trouble with TP-LINK, too, which is mainly using Atheros Chipsets.

Both ASUS and Totoloink use Ralink chipsets.

Any others having the same speculations ?

I have iphone 6 plus 64 gb and noticed after updating to 8.1.1 that my phone will no stay connected wifi. My wifi shows connected however nothing will upload until i hard reset the phone. Then once the phone is reset it works fine, I also noticed this morning that when the phone was on LTE it would not update anything either till the phone was reset. In the meantime my wifi on my show connected and shows connected on the phone, and yes nothing is wrong with my wifi bc when i got the phone on Nov 14 everything worked fine till i did updates. I thought something was messed up with my wifi however I looked at wifes Iphone5s that is still on ios7, my work phone which is samsung galaxy s4 and ipads and they were all connected, however my phone would not reload apps or pages til the phone was reset.

I have EXACTLY the same issue.

Exact same behaviour!

Also resetted network settings which lasts for about a day. => same issue again

Also deactivated the privacy setting for WIFI search. => no change

WIFI base station: Apple Time Capsule. Also changed to a Fritz.Box 7390 => same issue

Using WIFI with 5GHz only

iOS version: 8.1.2

Time Capsule Version: latest (today)

check my speeds. Internet speed should have around 6MBit/s.

Very frustrating!

Hi guys, I've made some progress with my wifi network issue with iphone 5s.. It was really bothering me, always turn off and turn on wifi after moving to another room of the house.. The whole thing is, ios 8.x.x is bad optimized for compatibility with some types of routers, especially with Atheros chipset (TP-LINK routers), which I own too.. Ralink chipset routers should run good.. So I was browsing some pages on internet and found a few tips.. First of all, I tried to change my bandwidth channel frequency, but ithere was no option in my wifi router settings.. You can try between 20-40 mhz, maybe you'll have that option there.. Second, I changed my channel frequency. I have 13 channels for choose, till today I was runnig on channel 13.. I found, channel 1, 5, 9, 13 are not overlapping. Each channel differs in 5mhz (Ch1 - 2414 mhz, ch2 - 2417 mhz...).. I checked channel 9..

What was positive, I had good wifi signal in whole house, finally I was not supposed to switch wifi between off and on to connect to the internet.. BUT, this lasts only for one hour, one eye closed - two hours.. 😟

I just think, I have to buy or borrow router with Ralink chipset and try it for some time.. Or apple will release new ios update, which fix this ******* problem.. (probably never) By the way, waiting for iphone 6, so curious if it's gonna work or not.. Hope, I helped someone..
