Anyone having the same problem? I have just upgraded to Yosemite and the Mail app no longer shows the total message count for my inbox, only counts and highlights the number of unread messages. Any way to work around this problem? Tried different forums and setting within the app, without any success.

I recently purchased an iMac Retina and I've already encountered this vanishing emails problem. Luckily, since my new mac is only a week old I've only lost a few days worth of emails from my inbox but it's still very annoying. Unfortunately none of the suggestions in this thread have worked for me. I can only assume that any apple updates since the last post have not addressed the issue.
When viewing on full screen, the total number of emails in any given folder does not display. When I viewed in reduced-screen mode, the totals appeared.
Therefore, try viewing in something that is less than full screen.
