Can't paste an image copied from Safari directly into Keynote. Get the word Text instead of the image. What is wrong?

I'm Currently Using OS X Yosemite 10.10 and Keynote 6.5

Prior to this I used OS X Mavericks and the Previous Keynote Version

I want to copy an image into Keynote from Safari. In Mavericks it used to work as follows:

Step 1: In Safari; Press ctrl and click on image; Select Copy Image

Step 2: In Keynote; Press cmd V; Image used to appear in Keynote and be re-sized to fit slide

Now, in Yosemite, when trying to paste the image, just a text box appears with the word “Text” inserted.

I would like the image to appear in the Keynote slide, not the word Text.

Do I have something wrong in settings / preferences?

Still a bug. And, since it is my normal workflow and drag-and-drop can be a real pain on a trackpad, I really wish they'd fix it.

Track pads should really be used when a mouse isn't practical; like sitting in a waiting room, the mouse or a pen and tablet are the referred tools for drag and drop operations.

Drag and dropping images from Safari works correctly in Keynote 5.3, 6.2.2 and 6.5.2. If you are not using these specific versions; update.

Yeah, be sure to send Feedback from within the app. Thinking that it might be using the iOS model (since copying an image in iOS leads results in a URL in iOS Keynote) I thought I'd try using the solution I'd come up with there, Saving to my Photo library then inserting from there. Unfortunately, Keynote loads the photo library once when you fire up the application and doesn't refresh it while it's running. So, for it to work, you'd have to send the image to Photos, quit Keynote, start it up again, THEN get the image from the Media button. Not a solution, to be sure!

Great that you've found another browser that populates the clipboard properly, though 🙂

By the way, pasting to Pages works as expected, only Keynote and Numbers are still broken.
