bluetooth audio lag in yosemite

Ever since upgrading my Bose Mini SoundLink has had the worst audio lag when connected ONLY to my MacBook Pro 2009 that I recently updated to 10.10. Before the update I never had problems.

Try this.

I had this issue where my Bluedio R+ Headphones were not working with Mac 10.10. I could connect my headphones with the computer through bluetooth but no sound. The fix for me was:

Connect your computer and head phones through bluetooth.

Go to:

System Preferences>Sound>Sound Effects>

where it says "Play sound effects through:" pick your headphones from the drop down window instead of "internal speakers" which was defaulted at the time.

Once I did this !!!!! I could hear again..

Hope this works for you.

I'm also having the same problem with my bluetooth Sennheiser headphones on both my mid 2011 iMac and mid 2011 MacBook Air. Whenever I use Spotify or watch a video, the sound is delayed and extremely choppy. I've had no problems with Mavericks so the only thing I can conclude that is causing this is Yosemite. But just to be sure, I reinstalled Windows 8.1, via bootcamp, on my iMac and with the same headphones I have no issues. The delayed, chopping sound only occurs when I use Yosemite. I really hope Apple fixes this with an update or something soon and doesn't try to blame it old hardware. Somewhere I read that Apple did this on purpose to make you think you need a new computer.

I'm having issues with audio lag on my bluetooth speakers as well. It happened after I upgraded to Yosemite. I have an older Mac, MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008), Yosemite, and Photive Cyren bluetooth speaker. The lag gets progressively worse over time. Very annoying. I see many others have the same problem, so I'm adding this message just to let Apple now that it's widespread. Hope this little bit help.

I don't know if it will help someone, but I will tell you my experience.

I have a 2013 MacBook Pro retina with 16 GB of ram.

When I installed Yosemite, the installer asked me to turn on File Vault, I thought my machine would be able to handle that fine, so I said yes.

Then I started experiencing problems, nothing too serious but annoying nonetheless.

Lag with the magic mouse.

Some applications were slower than normal.

I have fusion 7 and sometimes, the menu on the toolbar wouldn't work for a few minutes.

I turned off file vault.

Everything works great.

Alright everyone, I finally solved my Bluetooth woes when my computer decided to lock up yesterday.

I completely backed everything up and did a clean install of Yosemite: http://osxdaily. com/2014/10/18/clean-install-os-x-yosemite/

Unfortunately, this takes about an entire afternoon, however, completely worth while. Plus, my MAcBook no longer lags.

Peace,

Jeremy
